WoW Forever Warlock Guide: Changes, Mount, Leveling and Best Race

Blizzard published the Warlock kit on 7 October, in the same post as the Rogue, so all 9 reworked classes now have a written kit. Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom become Banes, and each Warlock keeps 1 Bane on a target. Curse of the Elements now covers all magic damage, and Curse of Shadows is gone.

Pets now scale from your own stats. Firestone and Spellstone become weapon imbues that stack with Wizard Oil, Life Tap scales with Spirit, and Drain Soul gets a rising chance per tick to grant a Soul Shard. On 6 October the 3rd class highlight video showed the Warlock specs next to Druid and Priest.

The class also gets 1 of the 6 new race and class combos: Troll Warlock. The other 5 are Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage and Undead Paladin.

Shared rules already reach the Warlock. Hit merges into 1 stat for spells, melee and ranged, crit does the same, and items carry less weapon skill each. Caster weapons now grant spell damage, which is the line a Warlock feels.

The 3 trees keep the familiar layout, with gold milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Confirmed class lines are gathered on class changes, and all 9 classes sit on classes.

Talents and abilities can still change while the beta runs to 21 October. Make the race the firm decision and keep the Warlock tree flexible until launch.

Blizzard has not published a Warlock-specific class mount quest or model.

Forever mount rules are game-wide. There are no flying mounts. Mount cost moves into riding training. A mount is granted when you learn the riding skill.

The Cerulean Prideclaw from the Skyborne Heroic Pack is a ground mount. You still buy riding skill in-game before you can use it.

Undead Paladin is the class Blizzard named with its own level-60 epic mount quest. That line does not name Warlock.

The 7 October Warlock kit names no class mount, so plan on the shared riding skill for travel. Full travel rules sit on mounts.

The same Warlock kit names no Felsteed or Dreadsteed quest, so leave a class charger out of your gold budget for now.

New mounts were still encrypted in the beta files on 28 September. No Troll Warlock mount is published.

5 races can be Warlock. Skyborne cannot. Tauren, Dwarf and Night Elf cannot. The Create the Hero matrix is the source.

Every race has 2 active and 2 passive racials. Blizzard updated the racials to fit the new class options and give each race a stronger identity.

Troll is the headline Horde pick because the combo is new. Berserking is a short cast-speed window for openers and drains.

Orc Blood Fury still feeds spell power for 15 seconds. Shatter Curse clears curse and bane effects and adds magic damage reduction for 8 seconds.

Undead keeps Will of the Forsaken for Charm, Fear and Sleep clears. Cannibalize now restores Mana as well as Health.

Gnome Expansive Mind raises maximum Mana by 5%. Eureka! lowers the cost of the next 3 Warlock spells and adds 10% to their damage.

Human Spirit adds 5% Spirit. Will to Survive clears stuns. Full racial text is on racials.

Faction choice still locks dungeon and raid groups. Horde and Alliance do not group together.

On the PvP ruleset an account picks 1 faction only. Normal and Roleplaying allow both factions on the same account.

Hardcore arrives after launch. Plan the Warlock on Normal, PvP or Roleplaying at launch.

This Horde combo is 1 of the 6 new race and class pairs Blizzard named at reveal. Classic 1.12 did not allow it.

The race stays Horde. Starting zones follow the Durotar path, then join the shared Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms routes.

Berserking raises cast and attack speed by 10% for 10 seconds. Rapid Regeneration restores 50% of maximum Health over time.

Beast Slaying adds 5% damage versus Beasts. Regeneration keeps 10% health regen active in combat.

Blizzard has not published a Troll Warlock story quest or special mount. The value of the combo today is the legal race plus those 4 racials.

Warlock trees keep 3 trees and 7 rows. Gold 1-point milestones sit at 11, 16, 21 and 31 spent points.

Blizzard published the Warlock talent trees on 7 October. Affliction gets Curse of Exhaustion at 16 points and Wrack, a new drain spell, at 31. Demonology gets Demonic Sacrifice at 11, Fel Domination at 16, Soul Link at 21 and Demonic Pact at 31. Destruction gets Conflagrate at 16, Bane of Havoc at 21 and Incinerate at 31.

Players in the beta can try Warlock talents from 17 September to 21 October 2026. The cap started at 20 and rose to 30 on 1 October. Early golds are the 1st live test.

Beta progress does not carry to the live game. Rebuild the tree at launch from whatever Blizzard has posted by then.

No Skyborne can be a Warlock, so every Warlock starts in a Classic zone. Durotar takes the 2 Horde starter races, Tirisfal the Forsaken, Dun Morogh a Gnome and Elwynn a Human. The level cap is 60, and Blizzard frames the climb with 1,000+ new quests. Nothing scales to your level, and flying mounts stay out of the game.

In the mid 30s to the mid 40s, the Riverglades frontier adds 150+ quests. Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal are the other named adventure regions, and Blizzard has not given either an exact level band.

Dungeons fall into Legacy Challenge bands of 15 to 25, 26 to 45 and 46 to 60. A Warlock clears each dungeon once for its quest XP, then heads back to the open world. Since the 1 October beta build that dungeon-quest bonus is half its old size.

Raids open on 9 December 2026: Barrow Deeps for 10 players and Hyjal Summit for 20 and Onyxia's Lair for 40. Upgrade buyers reserve names from 27 October to 3 November 2026, as name reservation explains.

Warlock pets now scale from your own stats, so every gear upgrade on the climb helps the pet too.

The route is on leveling and power leveling, the instances on dungeons and the raid tier on raids.

Durotar, Tirisfal, Dun Morogh or Elwynn: every Warlock start joins the same quest route. From any of them, 60 is about 150 hours of play away.
