WoW Forever Priest Guide

Blizzard reworked all 9 classes for Forever. The Priest deep dive came out on 30 September, and Blizzard's class highlight video for Druid, Warlock and Priest followed on 6 October. Fear Ward and Devouring Plague are baseline at level 20 for every Priest. Divine Spirit is baseline at level 30, and Shadow Word: Death is baseline at level 32.

Prayer of Healing now heals every member of the target's party and their pets. Renew from several Priests can run on the same target. Fade drops threat twice as much.

Shadow Word: Death deals instant Shadow damage and costs the Priest 10% of maximum health if the target survives. Its cooldown is 15 seconds.

Blizzard calls the Priest the most versatile healer: direct heals, heals over time and damage absorption shields. The class wears cloth and has few escapes, so it relies on friends for tanking and control.

Open a mega for the role you play: Holy PvE (Holy + Disc), Holy PvP, Shadow PvE, Shadow PvP.

Alliance: Gnome, Dwarf, Human, Night Elf. Horde: Troll, Undead. Gnome Priest is new. Skyborne, Orc and Tauren have no Priest cell.

Talents start at level 10 with milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Blizzard published the named Priest talents on 30 September.

Discipline. Soul Warding is the 16-point talent and cuts the cooldown and mana cost of Power Word: Shield. Penance is the 21-point talent: a channel of 2 seconds with a cooldown of 12 seconds that damages an enemy or heals an ally on each tick. Power in Light and Twin Disciplines are new row 1 talents.

Holy. Binding Heal is the 16-point talent: a cast time of 1.5 seconds with no cooldown that heals you and your target. Prayer of Mending at 31 points has a cooldown of 10 seconds and jumps up to 5 heals across party or raid members. Litany of Light refunds mana when you alternate heals.

Shadow. Vampiric Embrace is the 16-point talent and lasts 30 seconds with a 1-minute cooldown. Shadowform lets you cast all non-healing spells and cuts the mana cost of Shadow spells by 50%. Devouring Contagion makes Devouring Plague jump to a new enemy when its target dies.

Lightwell, Improved Prayer of Healing and Improved Vampiric Embrace are removed. Unbreakable Will is merged into Silent Resolve.

A quest-led Priest needs about 150 hours to reach 60 before the 9 December raids. Since the 1 October beta build dungeon quests pay 50% less bonus XP, so the route stays quest-led in the open world.
