Forever Meter, carry the tag from their 1st upload.

WoW Forever Power Leveling & Gearing
Why Classic addons need a Forever build
Forever looks like Classic, but it runs on the modern WoW client. It shares the interface code of the current game and most of its addon functions. Blizzard also switched on the addon rules it brought in for Midnight.
Those rules change what an addon can see. In combat, names and numbers reach addons as secret values: the game can show them, but an addon cannot add them up or compare them. The combat log is closed to addons, so a meter that reads it has nothing to count.
A Classic Era file therefore does not load as it is. Its author rebuilds it for the Forever client and uploads it with its own tag. Meters made for Forever read the game's own meter data instead of the combat log. On the beta, those files list game version 1.60.1 next to the Forever tag.
You see the rules at work in small ways.
Forever Meter hides its percent column during a fight, and its breakdown comparison and chat report work once combat ends. A file built for another client shows as out of date in the AddOns list, and the game skips it.
Pick files tagged Forever.
What the game already does: meter, cooldowns, swing timer
Forever ships 3 tools that used to need an addon. Each one is switched on in the game Options.
Damage Meter. Enable it under Advanced Options, then place it in Edit Mode. It shows damage and healing for everyone in your group.
Cooldown Manager. It moves key buffs and cooldowns off your bars to a spot you choose. It starts switched off, and on the beta
Druid,
Mage,
Priest,
Warrior and
Warlock can test it. Turn it on in Options under the Gameplay Enhancement settings before your 1st
dungeon.
Swing Timer. It tracks your auto attacks, which melee classes time their abilities around.
Warriors use it to time on-next-swing attacks such as Heroic Strike.
| Job | In the game | Addon for more |

Details! gives you the familiar windows.
Forever Meter adds per-spell breakdowns for players who study their numbers: hover a bar for a player's top 5 spells, or click it for the full breakdown. Retribution
Paladins get seal twisting from the Twist of Light
talent, with no swing addon at all.
Launch-day checklist: 8 addons to install
1 addon per job covers launch day. Each line gives the job and 1 setting worth changing.
Questie. Quest givers, objectives and turn-ins on your map. Switch on its
quest tracker to keep objectives on screen, and hide low-level quests once the map gets crowded.
Leatrix Plus. Small comfort fixes in 1 panel. Type /ltp and turn on the automation you use, such as selling junk. Many options ask for a /reload after you tick them.
Leatrix Maps or
TomTom. A clearer world map, or an arrow to any spot. TomTom's /way command points you at a coordinate, for example /way 45.2 60.1. Leatrix Maps can also reveal the parts of a zone you have not explored.
Bagnon or
Baganator. All bags in 1 window. Both also show what your other characters carry, and the search box finds an item across every bag.
Auctionator. Auction House prices and fast posting. A shopping list saves the herbs or ore you buy, so the next search takes 1 click.
DBM or
BigWigs. Boss timers and warnings. Install 1 of the 2, because both draw the same bars. Type /dbm or /bw to open its options and drag the bars where you want them.- A threat meter:
ThreatClassic2 or
Forever Meter. Tanks and damage dealers watch threat on every pull. Forever Meter warns at the share you set, for example /fm warn 90.
AtlasLoot Forever. Loot tables for
dungeons and
raids. It lists the items players have already seen, so look again after launch week. Pick a boss to see its drops before you queue. Our WoW Forever BiS lists say which drops to chase.
Install on the beta now, then again on 4 November.
Setups by role
Leveling setup
Questie and
Leatrix Plus carry most of a leveling session. Add
Leatrix Maps or
TomTom for coordinates, and a bag addon once your bags fill with
quest items.
A route addon tells you which quest to do next.
RestedXP sells a Forever route pack at $30 per faction or $45 for both. Its routes for levels 1 to 35 are finished, and the routes for levels 35 to 60 arrive after launch. The Era routes stay available for that range until the Forever versions are done. Our WoW Forever leveling addon notes cover what it adds, and the zone route works without it.
Dungeon and
raid setup
Run 1 boss mod, 1 threat meter and the built-in meter. Forever
dungeons are built around threat and crowd control, so the tank keeps
ThreatClassic2 or
Forever Meter in view on every pull. Healers can switch the meter to healing done, and Forever Meter can show up to 4 windows at once, for example damage next to threat.
Damage dealers set the threat warning in
Forever Meter a little under the tank. The sound plays before you pull the mob off the tank, so you ease off in time.
Timers for the raids that open on 9 December,
Barrow Deeps,
Hyjal Summit and
Onyxia's Lair, arrive as those fights open. See WoW Forever dungeons for the 9 new instances by level and WoW Forever raids for the 3 raids.
Gold and trade setup
Auctionator plus a bag addon. Auctionator shows item prices on your realm, and
Baganator shows what every character holds before you post. When you list, Auctionator suggests a price just under the lowest listing, which you can change before you post. Our WoW Forever gold economy guide covers what sells and where the
gold comes from.
How to install: CurseForge, Wago or by hand
- In the CurseForge or Wago app, pick WoW Forever as the game version. The apps find the Forever folder for you.
- Install each addon from the checklist.
- At the character screen, open AddOns and check that each one is ticked. A menu at the top switches the list between all characters and a single character.
- Tick Load out of date AddOns only for files you trust.
Keep all your addons in 1 app, so 2 apps never update the same folder. After each beta patch, update everything before you log in. If an addon shows an error after a patch, update it before you change any setting.
By hand, unzip each addon into the AddOns folder inside your Forever install, then restart the game. A /reload picks up code changes, while new fonts and textures load only at startup.
WeakAuras and the addons that stay off
WeakAuras has no official Forever build. Its team stopped work on it before Midnight, when the new addon rules arrived.
Musca Auras, a community port of
WeakAuras 5.22.0 by the author of
Forever Meter, ships a Forever build.
Classic meters built on the combat log stay off, and the meters named above fill their place.
For an old favourite with no Forever file yet, leave it unticked and check its project page after the next beta patch.
Blizzard has not published addon rules for
Hardcore realms yet. WoW Forever Hardcore lists what is known about that ruleset.
