FAQ

How does the Whirling Ovation exotic drop work?

Whirling Ovation is a Strand Exotic Rocket Launcher that drops from the final boss, Koregos, The Worldline. Community data puts the base rate near 5% per kill. You get one boss kill per character each week (3 across Hunter, Warlock and Titan). Six triumphs permanently raise that chance — our pros clear those first, before farming.

What encounters drop which weapons?

Agraios: Antedate (SMG), Lance Ephemeral (Sniper), Intercalary (Auto), chest. Iatros: Finite Maybe (Fusion), The When and Where (Rocket), helmet, legs. Epoptes: Opaque Hourglass (Bow), gauntlets, class item. Koregos: Whirling Ovation (Exotic) plus any DP weapon or armour. Epic only: The Ever-Present GL, Cusp Sempiternal AR, Starscape Null Shotgun.

Do I need the Edge of Fate campaign completed?

Yes. The raid only opens for accounts that own The Edge of Fate and have completed its campaign, on any difficulty. Legendary is not required to get in — it is simply the fastest route to raid-ready Power, which is why guides suggest it. We cannot run the raid on an account that has not finished the campaign.

How does the non-linear encounter structure work?

Desert Perpetual has a unique non-linear structure. After the opening, your fireteam can tackle Agraios, Iatros, and Epoptes in any order — each encounter exists in a separate wing. Only after completing all three does the path to Koregos (final boss) open. This means experienced teams optimize their route based on the loot they want first.

How does Epic difficulty differ from Normal?

Epic adds higher-level enemies, punishing wipe mechanics, and the feat system. It exclusively drops The Ever-Present (Grenade Launcher), Cusp Sempiternal, Starscape Null and the Wayward Psyche armour variant. Run three or more feats and the Combined Mastery triumph permanently raises your Desert Perpetual gear tier by one.

How do feats and tiered loot work?

Five feats: Cutthroat Combat (Contest), Phase Race (2-phase kills), Battalions, Token Limit, Encounter Challenges — we quote feats on Epic. Each raises your loot tier, and four carry a triumph that permanently improves your Whirling Ovation odds. Three or more on one clear earns Combined Mastery: +1 Desert Perpetual gear tier, permanently.

Is the Whirling Ovation required for the Atemporal title?

No. The Atemporal seal requires 12 of 18 triumphs. Obtaining Whirling Ovation is one of the 6 bonus triumphs not required for the title. However, the title DOES require a Flawless Raid (all 6 players, zero deaths), feat completion (Combined Mastery), encounter challenges, and Challenging Victory.

How does flawless work in a 6-player raid?

Flawless means all 6 players clear all 4 encounters with zero deaths — one death anywhere voids the attempt. That is much harder than a 3-player dungeon flawless: six points of failure instead of three. Our T1 Elite team fills all six slots. Fewer than 1% of players own the flawless raid emblem.

Piloted vs Self-Play — what's the difference?

Piloted: a pro plays on your account in one of the six slots — fastest and most reliable. Self-Play: you join the fireteam as one of the six, ~60-80% longer. Self-Play + Coaching: a pro teaches mechanics on voice (Agraios teleports, Iatros timing, Epoptes orbs, Koregos phases), ~2.3-2.8× longer. Flawless is piloted-only.

What power level do I need?

No specific level. You sit at 200 Power or above and the cap is 550, and the raid scales rather than locking you out — Epic is the harder tier, not a higher gate. If you want your characters levelled anyway for the damage, we can add that to your plan.

Is my account safe?

Premium VPN matching your location. Dedicated IP option (+$50/mo) for a static IP from your city. Since 2016, 250,000+ customers.

What is the Frame of Reference origin trait?

All Desert Perpetual weapons share the Frame of Reference origin trait: at 5 stacks, 35% bonus damage, faster reload and bonus range, and stowing at max stacks applies a freeze on the next draw. That makes them strong in endgame PvE — especially The When and Where and Opaque Hourglass for boss DPS rotations.
