Is there a WoW Token or a paid boost in WoW Forever? The economy rules
Straight answer: no WoW Token and no paid level boost are planned. Clay Stone, Associate Production Director, said it to Destin on September 14 (via Wowhead): “No plans for anything like a WoW Token or a boost.” Icy Veins reports the same interview with a “right now” attached. That is an interview answer, not a blizzard.com policy page — we say it once so you can weigh it yourself. The shop matches it: the paid editions unlock the Skyborne race, beta access, name reservation, cosmetics and game time. Nothing you can buy touches your level or your gold.
Blizzard’s own words on rewards (What’s Next recap, September 12): “rewards come from playing the game” and “effort continues to matter”. Forever itself is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or game time — no box price (pre-purchase post, September 12).
| Rule | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| WoW Token | No plans | Clay Stone to Destin, Sept 14, via Wowhead (interview) |
| Paid level boost | No plans; none sold in any edition | Same interview; Blizzard pre-purchase post, Sept 12 |
| Gold or gear in paid editions | None — cosmetics, Skyborne, beta, names, game time only | Pre-purchase post, Sept 12 |
| Beta progress at launch | Wiped; everyone starts at level 1 | Clay Stone, Sept 14 |
What that means for gold. Every gold piece on November 4 will be farmed by a player: no Token to turn dollars into gold, no boosted 60s arriving with a bag of coins, no beta progress carried over. The economy starts at zero for everyone, in a world set before Molten Core. Whatever the auction house turns out to be, the first prices will be set by whoever reaches skill 20 in a profession first. What each edition actually contains: editions compared.
Auction house and guild banks in WoW Forever: what Blizzard has actually said
Blizzard has not detailed the auction house for Forever. None of the BlizzCon recap posts or the pre-purchase post describes how the AH works, where it lives, how it is split across rulesets, or whether it changed at all. Anyone telling you the Forever AH “works like Classic” is guessing, and we will not print Classic AH mechanics here as Forever facts.
The one auction-house mention on record is second-hand: Kris Zierhut (Principal Designer) and Michael Nuthals (Senior Encounter Designer) told The Sun, reported by Wowhead on September 15, that the Riverglades’ Steamwheedle port has a Black Market Auction House. What it sells, who runs it and whether it replaces or sits beside a regular AH: not said.
Guild banks: not announced. No Blizzard Forever post mentions them, and guild scope across the realmless ecosystem is unpublished.
| Feature | On record | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Regular auction house | Nothing in any Blizzard post | Not detailed |
| Black Market Auction House | Riverglades, Steamwheedle port — Zierhut and Nuthals to The Sun, via Wowhead, Sept 15 | Reported; details unpublished |
| AH scope per ruleset (Normal, PvP, RP) | Nothing | Not announced |
| Guild banks | Nothing | Not announced |
| Guilds across the realmless ecosystem | Nothing | Not announced |
Our reading, labelled as such: Forever is realmless — you pick a ruleset, not a realm, and each ruleset is one large ecosystem. If the auction house follows the ecosystem, that is one shared market per ruleset instead of a few hundred realm markets, which usually means deeper supply and thinner margins for flippers. Blizzard has not said the AH works that way; it is where we would place a bet, not a fact.
The beta opens September 17 at a level-20 cap; whether it has an auction house enabled is also not announced. This section is rewritten the day something is published — see the changelog.
What gold costs on the way to 60: riding, repairs, respecs and camping objects
The honest cost table for Forever has more “not published” than numbers, and we would rather print that than paste 2019 Classic stickers onto a game that changed the biggest one.
| Cost | What Blizzard has said | Gold figure |
|---|---|---|
| Riding training (mount included) | Burning Crusade-style: the mount is granted when you learn riding; the gold that used to buy a vendor mount moves into training (Deep Dive, Sept 13). The pre-purchase Cerulean Prideclaw still needs riding bought in-game (Sept 12) | Not published — neither cost nor level |
| Repairs | Campsites include repairs and vendors in the field (Deep Dive) — fewer town trips | Any change to repair pricing: not announced |
| Respecs and talent resets | Nothing on respec cost; dual spec is not confirmed | Not announced — see dual spec |
| Class reagents | Legacy talent Reagent Economy removes reagent costs (Deep Dive) — paid in Legacy Points, not gold | Point cost: not published |
| Camping objects | First object per profession at skill 20 from camping NPCs or trainers; advanced ones from dungeon-boss Blueprints — a drop, not a purchase | Materials only; recipe prices: not published |
| Skills from class trainers | Nothing Forever-specific | Not announced |
The Legacy System matters for your gold even though it costs none: Legacy Points are earned account-wide and spent per character, up to 16 at launch (Deep Dive), and two of the three example talents Blizzard named — Bountiful Harvest and Reagent Economy — are about making or saving gold. Details: Legacy System guide.

Budget rule for launch: save for the riding trainer and for food; the rest is small. Full mount detail, including the Paladin charger quests, on the mounts guide.
Gold-making in WoW Forever: 600+ recipes, camping Blueprints, first-clear loot and gathering
With no Token, gold-making is the whole economy. Five published levers, ranked by how early they pay:
| Lever | What is published | Why it pays |
|---|---|---|
| Cooking and food | 600+ new recipes across professions; crafted food grants a small XP bonus plus stats (Deep Dive, Sept 13); Icy Veins and Wowhead report it as 5% more kill XP | Every leveler on the ruleset wants it from day one; the cheapest materials in the game |
| Camping objects | Up to 3 crafted objects per Basic Campfire; first at skill 20; advanced tiers from dungeon-boss Blueprints; Cooks learn campfires holding 5 or 10 objects | The crafter holding a Blueprint-tier object sets the buff standard in a bracket — groups come to you |
| Gathering | Legacy talent Bountiful Harvest raises mining, herbalism and skinning yield (Deep Dive) | Raw materials are the one thing 600 new recipes all need; zero start-up cost |
| First-clear loot | Itemization pass: unique dungeon-boss items are blue; world-drop epics improved; hundreds of new rare-creature drops (Deep Dive) | Tradeable drops are auction stock the moment a market exists; the first clear of each of the nine dungeons is also the richest quest XP |
| Crafting dependencies | Leatherworking’s advanced recipes require a Tanning Rack; Alchemy has a Lab object (Deep Dive) | A crafter who owns the object crafts for the ones who do not |
Our sequencing, not Blizzard’s: Cooking plus one gathering skill first, on every character; a crafting profession once Blueprints start dropping in the mid brackets. Which boss drops which Blueprint is not announced — the camping guide tracks it. Recipe lists and the Blacksmithing object ladder are on the professions guide; the nine dungeons and their brackets on the dungeons guide.

What does not exist yet: a Forever farming route, a gold-per-hour figure, a recipe price list. Any number of that kind you see before November 4 was made up. We publish measured ones after launch.
Launch-week economy: a fresh world on November 4, and why we quote gold after November 18
Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST, one moment for every region (pre-purchase post). Everyone starts at level 1, beta characters are gone, and the world is set before Molten Core: a fresh economy with zero gold in it. Nothing carries in from Classic Era, Retail or the beta.
What a fresh economy does in its first two weeks — our reading, not a Blizzard statement: vendors set the price floor because nobody has anything else; the first skill-20 crafters and the first cooks charge whatever they like; raw materials are worth more than finished goods until the mid brackets fill; and the raid economy — consumables for The Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit, the two raids Blizzard has named, with the first raid unlock scheduled for December 9 — does not exist until the first groups reach 60.
Week one is also a queue, not a market. Classic’s 2019 launch was reported at the time as thousands-deep login queues and packed starting zones; Forever puts each ruleset on one large ecosystem, which helps trading later and does nothing for day one. Nobody has gold to sell on November 5 except people who have not farmed it yet.
| Date | What happens | Effect on gold |
|---|---|---|
| Sept 17 – Oct 21 | Beta, level cap 20 then 30 | First look at food XP and skill-20 objects; nothing carries over |
| Oct 27 – Nov 3 | Early name reservation for pack buyers | None — names, not coins |
| Nov 4 | Global launch, 3:00 p.m. PST | Economy at zero; vendors set the floor |
| Nov 18 | LFCarry gold quotes open | Two weeks of real trades to read a price from |
That is why our gold is quoted after November 18. By then the market that forms — in whatever shape Blizzard ships it — has two weeks of real trades behind it. Before that, any fixed gold price is a guess dressed up as a quote, ours included, which is why we do not give one.
Buying WoW Forever gold safely: $19 per 100g pre-order, final quote after November 18, refundable
How our shelf works. You pre-order gold at $19 per 100g. On or after November 18 we read the live market on your ruleset and faction and send you the final quote. You confirm, or you take the refund — the pre-order is refundable any time before delivery. A Pro on your ruleset and faction farms and delivers the gold in-game; nobody asks for your password, because gold delivery never needs your login.
Five checks for any seller, including us:
- Was the price formed or guessed? A fixed gold price before a market has traded is a guess. Ask when it was set and against what.
- Refund before delivery? If the answer is no, the risk is all yours.
- Ruleset and faction. Forever does not support cross-ruleset grouping (Blizzard), and trading across rulesets is not detailed — assume it does not happen. The seller must be on yours.
- No login, ever. Gold arrives in-game. A seller who needs your account has something else in mind.
- Blizzard’s rules. Blizzard has published nothing Forever-specific about third-party gold; assume the standard World of Warcraft terms apply and decide with that in mind. We will not pretend otherwise.
The alternative we also sell: make your own. Profession Leveling 1–300 is $89, pre-order, and a cook or gatherer at cap in week one is a gold engine the market cannot price yet. Both routes, and the coaching to learn either, are on the WoW Forever shelf.
