WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM PST. This guide gives the route from 1 to 225 with every material counted, the plan for 225 to 300, the trainers, the 3 camp objects and the Merchant's Favor patterns.

Leatherworking 1 to 300 in WoW Forever: the short answer

Take Skinning with Leatherworking and follow the route below from 1 to 225. The last 75 points open with Artisan training.

RankSkillHow you open it
Apprentice1 to 75Open from the start
Journeyman75 to 150Skill 50 and level 10
Expert150 to 225Skill 125 and level 20, 50 silver
Artisan225 to 300Skill 200 and level 35

Leatherworking makes leather and mail armor, cloaks and armor kits, so it suits Druids, Hunters, Rogues and Shamans. Leather and hides are most of the cost, which is why Skinning is the pair.

Before you start:

  • Keep the belts and cured hides the route marks. Later recipes use them.
  • Buy a few extra of each leather. Many recipes turn grey sooner than in Classic, so Classic craft counts run short.

Leather, hides and thread for 1 to 225

This list covers the Heavy Hide route from 1 to 225. Each row shows what to buy after the leather you craft along the way.

Medium Leather and Fine Thread print as ranges because Hillman's Leather Gloves take 16 to 20 crafts. Recipes that turn yellow can need a few extra crafts, so keep a small reserve.

Thread, dye and salt come from the Leatherworking Supply vendor near the trainers. Spare leather sells, and the gold guide covers what gathering and crafting earn.

Leatherworking at 300 on your level 60 character

Order Leatherworking on its own with the leather included, or add it with Skinning to a 1 to 60 order.

Leatherworking 125 to 225: Heavy Leather, Guardian Gloves, Nightscape

This table uses Heavy Hide for the 130 to 175 stretch. If Heavy Hide is cheap on your realm, follow it. If Heavy Hide is dear, use the branch below the table.

The branch without Heavy Hide replaces the 130 to 175 rows and rejoins the table at 175. You still need the 26 Cured Heavy Hide for 175 to 195.

Dusky Bracers also work for 165 to 175: 16 Heavy Leather, 1 Black Dye and 2 Silken Thread each.

Order Leatherworking →A Pro levels Leatherworking with every hide, leather and thread included. Pre-order: the order starts on 4 November. On a 1 to 60 order, Leatherworking is an add-on from $79.

Leatherworking 225 to 300: the launch route

The beta caps characters at level 30 since 1 October, and Artisan training needs level 35. So 225 to 300 opens on live realms only, from launch on 4 November.

The table lists the crafts in the order the plan uses them, with the materials for each craft.

CraftMats per craftLearned from
Rugged Armor Kit5 Rugged LeatherTrainer
Wicked Leather Gauntlets8 Rugged Leather, 1 Black Dye, 1 Rune ThreadPattern, skill 235
Tooled Leather Gauntlets (new)10 Rugged Leather, 1 Rune Thread, 1 Orange DyePattern, skill 260
Blue Suede Hat (new)16 Rugged Leather, 1 Rune Thread, 4 Blue DyePattern, skill 280

All 4 crafts run on Rugged Leather, and so does the Sewing Machine. Tooled Leather Gauntlets give Intellect and Spirit, and Blue Suede Hat gives Strength and Agility. Both bind when equipped, so a Leatherworker can sell them. A Mystic Rugged Armor Kit from the Favor vendor is an extra option.

We check this range on live realms between 4 and 11 November and add the craft counts after it.

What Leatherworking makes in Forever

Forever adds more than 270 new Leatherworking recipes to the Classic list, more than 500 in all.

  • Some Leatherworking recipes now drop at random in dungeons. The 1 October beta build added them.
  • 3 specializations exist: Dragonscale, Elemental and Tribal Leatherworking. We check how each unlocks on live realms in launch week.
  • The Legacy tree has a profession perk, Working Overtime, that raises the chance of a skill point. Reaching Artisan in a profession is also one of the Legacy challenges Blizzard has named. The Legacy guide has the tree.

The professions guide covers the other professions.

Camp Tent, Tanning Rack, Sewing Machine and the Favor patterns

Camp objects

The Camp Tent is learned at skill 20, and the advanced objects come from Blueprints found in the world. Every object needs a Campfire nearby, and all camping features share a 1-hour cooldown. A basic Campfire holds up to 3 objects.

SkillObjectMats and effect

Which reagents the Tanning Rack makes, and which recipes need the Sewing Machine, we check on live realms in launch week. The Camping guide has the campsite rules.

Merchant's Favor patterns

81 Leatherworking patterns sell for Merchant's Favor. The armor you craft from them is rare and binds to the crafter, so learn them on the character that wears them.

FavorPatternsSlots and the skill each needs
30366 sets with 6 slots each: belt 60, gloves 75, boots 85, hood 100, tunic 110, legs 125
6017Gloves 175 (7 patterns), shoulders 210 (9 patterns), Forceful Thick Armor Kit 185
9028Bracers 225 (9 patterns), boots 235 (9), waist 250 (9), Mystic Rugged Armor Kit 235

The 30-Favor sets are Brawler's, Defender's, Stormrider's, Totemic, Trapper's and Wisdom's. Mender's and Skycaller's come in leather and mail, 9 pieces each. Prowler's, Skulker's and Warden's are leather, and Skirmisher's and Stalker's are mail with leather gloves, 5 pieces each.

You earn Merchant's Favor by turning in crates at the faction camps. The Alliance vendor is Daniel Stitchsong at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp in the Redridge Mountains. The Horde faction is Durotar Supply and Logistics, outside the Crossroads.

The Leatherworking Certification costs 1,000 Merchant's Favor and needs skill 300. It unlocks an account-wide title that characters with 300 Leatherworking can show.

Where to train Leatherworking, and Skinning to pair

Apprentice is open from the start. Every capital has a trainer, and Journeyman, Expert and Artisan sit in the places below.

Skinning to pair

Skinning supplies every leather and hide on the route. A creature can be skinned once, even when several group members have the profession. The Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest adds 20% more Scarce materials from Skinning for each of its 5 ranks.

Skinning has 3 camp objects of its own. The Camp Chair at skill 20 gives everyone sitting nearby 2% critical strike and is exclusive with Moonkin Aura. The Field Guide at 140 teaches Track Beasts to players who read it. The Trapper's Workbench at 300 holds 1 trap.
