Tailoring 1 to 300 in WoW Forever: the short answer
Tailoring has 4 ranks. Each rank lifts your skill cap by 75, and a trainer teaches it once you have both the skill and the character level.
| Rank | Skill cap | Skill needed | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | None | None |
| Journeyman | 150 | 50 | 10 |
| Expert | 225 | 125 | 20 |
| Artisan | 300 | 200 | 35 |
5 things Forever changed from the Classic route to 300:
- Recipes turn grey sooner. Many Classic recipes stop giving points 25 to 45 skill earlier, so batches are smaller and the Classic plan for 225 to 300 no longer fits.
- Reagent bags. A bag for profession materials at every cloth tier.
- 3 campsite objects. The
Faction Banner, the
Spinning Wheel and the
Loom stand at your camp. - Spell school gear for
Merchant's Favor. New cloth patterns for Fire, Frost, Arcane, Shadow, Holy and Healing, and a Tailor title at the top. - Legacy points.
Tailoring milestones pay points to your whole account.
For every other profession, see all professions and the order to level them.

Cloth you need for 1 to 225
These totals follow option A of the route below. Every craft uses bolts, so turn the cloth into bolts as you go.
| Cloth | Total to 225 | Makes |
|---|---|---|
| 65 | 30 | |
| 423 | 141 | |
| 704 | 176 | |
| 900 | 180 | |
| 20 | For the |
The 900
Mageweave Cloth already covers the 17 bolts you make at 140 to 150, so buy it once. Counts are estimates: a yellow recipe misses a point now and then, so keep a few spare.
The
Tailoring Supplies vendor next to most trainers sells the rest: 28
Coarse Thread, 148
Fine Thread, 100
Silken Thread, 76
Heavy Silken Thread and 88
Red Dye.
Save the cloth you loot while leveling, because the route uses every tier.
Mageweave Cloth drops from higher-level mobs, so buy it, or the bolts, if your character is younger.
Short on time? A Pro does the route for you, and crafting professions start from $113 with the cloth included. On a 1 to 60 order, Tailoring adds $49.

Pick Tailoring in the profession list: a Pro levels it from 1 to 300 on your level 60 character, cloth and thread included, every trainer stop on the way. Pre-order, it starts on 4 November.

Runecloth for 225 to 300 costs gold at launch. A Pro farms on your character for 10 hours, and the order chat logs the gold it makes.
Tailoring 1 to 150: Linen, Wool and Silk
Craft each row until your skill reaches the end of its range, then move down. Train Journeyman before the Woolen bolts at 55, because the bolts can carry you past 75.
| Skill | Craft | Count | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–30 | 30 | 60 | |
| 30–55 | 28 | 28 | |
| 55–80 | 45 | 135 | |
| 80–95 | 22 | 22 | |
| 95–100 | 5 | 15 | |
| 100–120 | 40 | 160 |
Keep the Silk bolts for the vests after 150. Make all 45 Woolen bolts, then turn the rest of your
Wool Cloth into bolts too: the capes, shoulders and gloves of option A use 141.
Skill 20 unlocks the
Faction Banner, and skill 70 the
Woolen Reagent Bag. Both get their own table in the Forever section below.
From 120 the route splits. Option A stays on Wool, and option B moves to Silk. Pick by Auction House price: option B takes 6 fewer crafts.
| Skill | Option A | Option B |
|---|---|---|
| 120–125 | 8 | 5 |
| 125–135 | 20 | 12 |
| 135–140 | Gloves continue | 5 |
| 140–150 | 17 | 17 |
| Crafts 120–140 | 28 | 22, fewer crafts |
| Materials 120–140 | 104 | 49 |
Train Expert at 125. If
Mageweave Cloth is scarce at 140, option A can keep making
Gloves of Meditation to 150. That takes about 31 more, with 124
Bolt of Woolen Cloth, 93
Fine Thread and 31
Elixir of Wisdom.
Tailoring 150 to 225: Silk and Mageweave
Silk carries you to 190, and Mageweave finishes the rank at 225.
| Skill | Craft | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 150–170 | 20 | 80 |
| 170–190 | 24 | 96 |
| 190 | ||
| 190–215 | 38 | 76 |
| 215 | ||
| 215–225 | 26 | 104 |
That table is option A. Option B changes 170 to 190 only:
| Skill | Craft | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 170–180 | 10 | 40 |
| 180–190 | About 12 | 12 |
The trousers turn yellow at 180, so option A spends 14 crafts on its last 10 points. Option B switches recipe there: about 22 crafts against 24, with 56 fewer Silk bolts and 12 more Mageweave bolts.
The gloves turn yellow at 195 and green at 210. The bags are yellow from the start and green at 220, so keep a few spare bolts for the last points.
Tailoring 225 to 300: the launch route
The beta caps characters at level 30 since 1 October, and Artisan training needs level 35. So 225 to 300 opens on live realms only, from launch on 4 November.
The table is the planned route in Forever skill ranges, in crafting order. The route moves from Mageweave to
Runecloth here, and the Earthenweave patterns are new to Forever.

| 267–270 | Launch | |
| 270–285 | Launch | |

| 296–300 | Launch |
We play this range on live realms between 4 and 11 November and update this table.
Craft counts and the
Runecloth total join the table after that check. Until then, stock Runecloth as you loot it. Train Artisan at skill 200 so the cap never stops you at 225: its trainers stand outside the capitals, in the table below.
Where to train Tailoring
Apprentice and Journeyman are taught in every capital. Expert and Artisan have 1 trainer per faction, so plan those trips around your route. Expert training costs 50 silver.

What Forever adds: reagent bags, the campsite and the Tailor title
Reagent bags
Reagent bags go in their own bag slot, so they add room beyond your normal bags. They bind when equipped, so every bag you craft can be sold.

Merchant's Favor patterns and the Tailor title
Merchant's Favor comes from the Waylaid Supply Crates you loot while leveling. Fill them and hand them in at your faction's trade camp. Spend it on the school you play.
| Skill | Patterns | Merchant's Favor |
|---|---|---|
| 60 to 125 | Boots 60, Gloves 75, Sash 85, Circlet 100, Gown 110, Leggings 125 | 30 each |
| 165 | Handwraps | 60 each |

The
Tailoring Certification unlocks the title "the Tailor" for every character on your account. A character shows it only with
Tailoring at 300.
Alliance players buy it from Mivin Shadowweave at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp in
Redridge Mountains.
Horde players buy it at the Durotar Supply and Logistics camp outside the Crossroads in The
Barrens.
Legacy points
Skill 150, 225 and 300 each pay Legacy points the 1st time a character on your account reaches them. The Legacy system guide shows what they buy.
Who should level Tailoring
Mage,
Priest and
Warlock wear cloth, so they get the most from
Tailoring. A Mage crafts Flame (Fire), Silky (Frost) or Pearly (Arcane) gear. A Priest crafts Pristine (Healing), Shining (Holy) or Shadow gear, and a Warlock crafts Shadow or Flame gear.
Pair
Tailoring with
Enchanting. Disenchant the gear the route makes, and the dust levels Enchanting beside it.
Every class buys bags, so
Tailoring makes
gold on any character. The WoW Forever gold economy guide shows where profession gold comes from.
Is
Tailoring worth it in Forever? Yes for a cloth wearer: the spell school patterns start at skill 60 and keep coming up to 235. For a melee class it pays through bags, gold and the Spirit banner at camp.
