Engineering 1 to 300 in WoW Forever: the short answer
Level
Mining next to
Engineering and craft the cheapest part at each skill range: blasting powder, bolts and tubes early, then triggers and casings. Pick Gnomish or Goblin at 200, then finish 225 to 300 with Mithril and Thorium after launch.
| Rank | Skill cap | To learn it |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | Open from the start |
| Journeyman | 150 | |
| Expert | 225 | |
| Artisan | 300 |
The trainer recipes match Classic too, so the Classic crafting order still works. Forever changes 4 things around them:
- Level gates. Each rank also asks for a character level, so a character below level 10 stays capped at skill 75.
Gnome racial. The old +15
Engineering skill is gone. Gnome engineers now get devices that work more often.- Camp objects. Engineers build a
Reagent Bot at skill 20, a
Repair Bot at 140 and an
Anarchist's Workbench at 300.
Merchant's Favor. 28 schematics sell for Favor at the trade company camps, and certification at 300 earns the title "the Engineer".

Mats for 1 to 225
These totals cover every craft from 1 to 225 on the cheaper pick at each range.
Mining covers most of this list, since every stone and most bars come from the veins you mine on the way.

At 100 you can make 5
Flying Tiger Goggles in place of the
Silver Contact. That swaps the 5
Silver Bar for 30
Light Leather and 10
Tigerseye.
Keep a
Blacksmith Hammer in your bags from the bolts at skill 30. Keep the
Arclight Spanner from 50 too: the scopes, gizmos, sheep, triggers and casings all need it.
On a 1 to 60 order,
Engineering adds $109 and
Mining adds $29. For a character that is already 60, a Pro levels Engineering to 300 with bars and stone included, priced on the professions page.
Engineering at 300 on your level 60 character
Order Engineering on its own with the materials included, or add it to a 1 to 60 order.
1 to 300WoW Forever Profession Leveling 1–300: Pre-order
Pick Engineering in the profession list: a Pro levels it from 1 to 300 on your level 60 character, bars and stone included, every trainer stop on the way. Pre-order, it starts on 4 November.
Best value1–60 Leveling: 14 days
1 booster plays 12 hours a day and levels up to 2 professions along the 1 to 60 route, Engineering and Mining on the same order.

Thorium for 225 to 300 costs gold at launch. A Pro farms on your character for 10 hours, and the order chat logs the gold it makes.
Engineering 1 to 150: powder, bolts and bronze
Craft each row in order. Most parts feed a later row, so keep them in your bags until the recipe that uses them.

Train Journeyman at skill 50 and Expert at 125, as the ranks table shows. The scopes leave 15
Bronze Tube spare, and the
Repair Bot takes 1 of them later.
The 1 to 75 stretch costs little but
Rough Stone and
Copper Bar, so it fits into your early hours of questing. Mine the copper veins in your starting zone, smelt as you go and craft at each trainer stop.
Engineering 150 to 225: sheep, mithril and triggers
The bronze parts from the last stretch become
Explosive Sheep, then
Solid Stone and Mithril carry you to 225. You need the Expert rank to pass 150.
| Skill | Craft | Mats |

Iron Grenade is the other craft for 175 to 194, made from
Iron Bar,
Heavy Blasting Powder and
Silk Cloth. Either way you need 60
Solid Blasting Powder in total: 20 go into the triggers and 40 into the
Hi-Explosive Bomb after 238.
Mithril Casing runs from 215 to 238 in 1 batch of 40. The shopping list above holds the 36
Mithril Bar for the casings before 225, and the 225 to 300 mats below hold the other 84.
Engineering 225 to 300: the launch route
The beta has capped characters at level 30 since 1 October, and Artisan training needs level 35, so this stretch follows the Classic-range route. We check it on live realms between 4 and 11 November.
| Skill | Craft | Mats |
|---|---|---|
| 238 to 250 | 20 | 40 |
| 250 to 260 | 30 | 60 |
| 260 to 285 | 35 | 105 |
| 285 to 300 | 20 | 120 |
Mats for 225 to 300: 84
Mithril Bar, 60
Dense Stone, 225
Thorium Bar and 35
Runecloth.
The trainer teaches
Hi-Explosive Bomb and
Dense Blasting Powder. Buy the
Thorium Widget schematic from Sovik in Orgrimmar or Gearcutter Cogspinner in
Ironforge. The
Thorium Tube schematic sells at Xizzer Fizzbolt in Everlook,
Winterspring.
Thorium Bar is the big cost of this range at launch. A Pro can farm WoW Forever gold on your character to pay for the bars.
Gnomish or Goblin at 200
At skill 200 every engineer picks
Gnomish Engineering or
Goblin Engineering. Each branch teaches its own recipes, so pick the toolkit you want at 60.
| Gnomish | Goblin |
|---|---|
| Gadgets and utility devices | Bombs and explosive devices |
| Teleport at 260: | Teleport at 260: |
| Pick it for travel and utility tools | Pick it for extra burst in |
Gnome engineers have their own racial line for devices, and the Gnome racials guide lists the full kit.
Both branches keep the shared recipes, so the route to 300 in this guide stays the same whichever branch you pick.
Camp bots, new schematics and the Engineer title

Merchant's Favor.

Anarchist's Workbench: 1
Essence of Anarchy and 2
Thorium Widget, with the
Arclight Spanner in your bags.
Each object needs a
campfire nearby, and all camping features share a 1-hour cooldown. Make 2 extra
Whirring Bronze Gizmo at 135 for the
Repair Bot. The camping guide shows how a camp works.
The schematics sell at the trade company camps. Fritz Fizzle sells them for the
Alliance at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp in
Redridge Mountains. Fizzlefuse sells them for the
Horde at the
Durotar Supply and Logistics camp just outside the Crossroads in the
Barrens.
To earn
Merchant's Favor, loot a
Waylaid Crate in the world, fill it with the goods it names and hand it in at your camp. Each schematic needs the
Engineering skill in the table.
