Shadow PvP is DoT pressure, a Fear, then a Mind Blast weave. You do not heal 40-man raids here. Race detail: Priest racials. Raid DoTs: Shadow PvE. BG heals: Holy PvP.

Blizzard announced a new battleground on 7 October: Battle for the Darkspear Islands, 15 against 15 for levels 30 to 60 off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh, with 4 capture points and a central flag. Its 2 new reputations sell gear and a tabard at Exalted.

Blizzard named the Shadow talents on 30 September, and every Priest now gets Fear Ward and Devouring Plague at level 20 and Shadow Word: Death at 32: instant Shadow damage on a 15-second cooldown that costs you 10% of your maximum health if the target survives. Vampiric Embrace is the 16-point gold, and Shadowform lets you cast every non-healing spell and halves the mana cost of Shadow spells. Spends stay provisional. Milestone numbers live on the hub and the calculator.

Leveling in PvP: SW:P to tag, Fear packs, Mind Flay when they stand still. Do not spec full Holy on this page.

At 60 the beta read is Shadow damage plus optional Disc shields. Exact silence and Fear DR stay off this page until Blizzard posts them. Lower crit damage in beta PvP is a bug Blizzard confirmed on 29 September, not a nerf.

Shadow honor pieces want spell damage and survivability. Early quest greens only plug holes.

How the climb works since Blizzard's 7 October post: Honor is the currency for the blue and epic PvP sets, Rank Points move you up 14 ranks with a weekly cap, Rank 11 brings mounts and Rank 14 the epic weapons. The 1 October build raised gear prices by about 50% in Honor and the cap to 25,000, so spend Honor before you reach it.

Bracket start. Quest caster slots before rank pieces. Early caster PvP pieces.

Climb weeks. Push mid then high brackets on the live PvP book while you farm kills. Rank 14 offer.

After raids open. Take a raid caster drop only when spell power clearly wins. Raid carries.

Shadow trades want Engineering gadgets and Tailoring cloth. The live PvP Ultimate card is Engineering with Tailoring. Open a card to preselect Shadow on the PvP ruleset.

Who you are Fearing.

• Enemy roster: cloth targets on Warsong.
• DR tracker: your Fear diminishing returns.
• Cast bar helper: catch enemy heals mid cast.
• Arena frames: only if you queue 2s.

Raid DoT meters stay on Shadow PvE.
