Class by class: what is confirmed, what is pending
The honest state on September 16, 2026: Blizzard has written down one class in full. Everything else is either a game-wide rule that touches every class, a new race pairing, or a readout of the BlizzCon demo build by Icy Veins. Blizzard's own Deep Dive recap says more class and race details are planned through future videos and articles, so the empty cells below are Blizzard's schedule, not a gap in our reading.

| Class | Confirmed changes (Blizzard text) | New races | Detail status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holy Strike at 6, Seal of Fury taunt, seals not consumed, Consecration baseline at 20, named Holy/Prot/Ret talents | Full post | ||
| Global changes only in Blizzard text | Icy Veins readout | ||
| Global changes only | Skyborne (both factions) | Pending | |
| Global changes only | Human, Skyborne | Pending | |
| Global changes only | Skyborne | Pending | |
| Divine Spirit baseline (global) | Gnome | Pending | |
| Global changes only | Orc, Alliance Skyborne | Pending | |
| Global changes only | Troll | Pending | |
| Improved Mark of the Wild baseline (global) | Skyborne (new forms) | Pending |
Read the table as a promise ledger. Pending means Blizzard has not published a changelist, not that the class is untouched — the Deep Dive says classes are meant to be simpler and more distinct, and every class inherits the stat and talent rework in the next section. Full class roster and the Skyborne class rules live on Forever classes; the calendar is on release date. Hub: /wow-forever.
Changes that hit every class
These are Blizzard's words from the Deep Dive recap, and they apply to all nine classes whether or not a class post exists yet.
| System | What changed | Why it matters at the keyboard |
|---|---|---|
| Talent trees | Same structure and row count as Classic; 51 points at 60 (Kris Zierhut, via Icy Veins); one-point milestones at 11 / 16 / 21 / 31 — the 16 is new | Four gold talents per tree instead of three; hybrid builds get one more anchor |
| Baseline buffs | Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings, Improved Mark of the Wild are baseline | Priests, Paladins and Druids no longer spend talents to be allowed in a raid |
| Hit and crit | Spell, melee and ranged hit merged; spell, melee and ranged crit merged | One hit stat, one crit stat — hybrid gear stops being a compromise |
| Healing | Bonus healing now includes 1/3 as much bonus damage | Healers can solo and quest without a second gear set |
| Weapon skill | Weapon skill on items reduced per item; caster weapons grant spell damage/healing | Fewer dead stats on drops |
| Combat pace | Solo kill of an ordinary mob ≈ 10–15 seconds; classes simple and distinct | Classic feel, not retail speed |
| Dungeons | CC (Polymorph, Banish, Fear, Root) matters; threat matters; no level scaling | Utility spells are back on the bar |
Two consequences worth saying out loud. First, Kings and Divine Spirit as baseline removes the biggest "you exist to buff" tax in Classic — a Holy Paladin or Disc Priest is picked for healing, not for a 5-point talent. Second, merged hit and crit is the quiet one: a Shockadin or Enhancement Shaman no longer needs two different hit caps. Blizzard names Retribution and Enhancement as the hybrids getting itemization help.
How the trees actually read, which calculator to use and what "one-pointer at 16" means for your build is on the talent calculator guide. The question everyone asks next — is there dual spec — has its own honest page: dual spec status.
Paladin: the one class Blizzard wrote down
Paladin got a full post because the class had the biggest hole in Classic: no taunt, so no real tank path. The Deep Dive fixes that and touches all three specs. The short version:
- Holy Strike at level 6 — an instant Holy weapon strike on a 12-second cooldown. Paladins finally get a button before level 20.
- Seals are no longer consumed by Judgment. You judge, the seal stays up.
- Seal of Fury — the Protection tank seal: small absorb shields, and Judgment of Fury taunts. Wowhead's readout adds a 10-yard range on that judgment; treat the yard figure as coverage.
- Consecration baseline at 20.
- Still no interrupt and no slow. Blizzard said this itself.
- Named talents per tree: Holy gets Light's Vigil (a party-wide heal option) and Holy Shock on 10 seconds; Protection gets Improved Seal of Fury, Swift Judgment, Templar's Bulwark, a redesigned Reckoning, Iron Creed; Retribution gets Vindication, Champion of the Light, Instrument of the Law and Twist of Light (seal twisting without a swing-timer addon).
Blizzard's own summary on X the same day: taunt and other tools for Protection tanking, damage tweaks to make Retribution melee competitive, strong single-target and a new AoE heal for Holy. The complete changelist by spec, Seal of Fury mechanics, the three Paladin races and a 1–60 plan are on the Paladin guide; the Forsaken flavour — Bandarion Keep, the Retribution charger — is on Undead Paladin.
Forever coaching →Coaching is $29/hour. A Pro walks your spec through the confirmed changes — Seal of Fury, the 16-point gold, merged hit/crit — and tells you plainly what Blizzard has not said yet.
Shaman: an Icy Veins readout of the BlizzCon build
Blizzard has not published a Shaman post. What exists is Icy Veins' class overview, built by reading the trees on the BlizzCon demo build (their changelog: preliminary on September 12, a spell/talent pass on September 15). That makes every line below a readout, not a Blizzard statement, and beta on September 17 can change ranks or names.
| Spec / system | Icy Veins readout |
|---|---|
| Elemental | New 31-point capstone Lava Burst; Lightning Overload named; Lightning Bolt 2.5 s at max rank |
| Enhancement | New 31-point capstone Rage of the Farseer |
| Restoration | Riptide named (row not readable in the overview) |
| Totems | Totemic Projection, Totemic Recall, Call of the Elements (3 s); Fire Nova is no longer a totem |
| Races |
The loudest Shaman argument on Reddit this week — is Enhancement two-hander or dual-wield — has no official answer. The calculators will show whether dual-wield talents exist once beta data lands; until then it is a community debate. We do not print a verdict. Dwarf racials that matter for a Shaman (Stoneform now reduces Physical damage taken, Mace Specialization crits with all spells and abilities) are Blizzard text and sit on Dwarf Shaman.
Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warlock, Druid: what we can say
For seven classes there is no Blizzard changelist and no third-party readout we would put a name on. What exists per class is small, and we list it so you can see the edge of the evidence rather than guess at it.
| Class | What is on record | Class of evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Playable by both Skyborne factions. BlizzCon coverage mentioned Improved Battle Shout as baseline — coverage, not Blizzard prose. | Official (race) / coverage (talent) | |
| Human Hunter is a new combo; Nesingwary's quest reward becomes the Master Hunter's Spellsword; Dwarf Big Game Hunter racial = bonus damage vs Beasts. | Official | |
| Playable by both Skyborne factions. Nothing else. | Official (race) | |
| Gnome Priest is a new combo; Divine Spirit is baseline. | Official | |
| Orc Mage new combo; Alliance Skyborne can be Mage; Polymorph named as CC that matters in dungeons. | Official | |
| Troll Warlock new combo; Banish and Fear named as CC that matters. | Official | |
| Improved Mark of the Wild baseline; Skyborne Druid with new forms (bird/bear and bird/cat hybrids, bird travel form per Wowhead's panel readout). | Official (buff, race) / coverage (forms) |
If a site tells you a Warrior 31-point capstone name today, ask where it came from. Both talent calculators are built from the BlizzCon demo and their own authors say rank scaling and icons may be wrong until the beta datamine. We will fill these rows the day Blizzard publishes a class post, and we will say which post.
New race and class combos, and the racials behind them
Blizzard's Deep Dive lists six new pairings at launch, with more planned for future updates. All six are free with a subscription — the only paid race is Skyborne.

| Combo | Faction | Racial that changes the class (Blizzard text) |
|---|---|---|
| Will of the Forsaken removes Charm/Fear/Sleep but no longer grants immunity; Cannibalize restores Mana and Health | ||
| Stoneform reduces Physical damage taken; Mace Specialization = crit with all spells and abilities | ||
| Human Hunter | Icy Veins demo readout: Will to Survive removes stuns; Sword Specialization +2% crit (coverage) | |
| Gnome Priest | Gnome racials not yet in Blizzard text | |
| Orc Mage | Orc racials not yet in Blizzard text | |
| Troll Warlock | Troll racials not yet in Blizzard text |
The rule behind the table: every race now has two active and two passive racials, budgeted so no race is forced toward the same strengths.
Skyborne pick Horde or Alliance at creation: Horde Skyborne can be Shaman, Alliance Skyborne can be Mage, both can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid — and the race needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack ($29.99) or higher. Full racial tables: Forever racials; the paid race: Skyborne.
What to watch on the September 17 Q&A and in beta
Blizzard's live developer Q&A runs Thursday, September 17 at 10:30 a.m. PDT (Forever segment; modern WoW at 10:00) on the official Warcraft Twitch and YouTube, VOD afterwards. The same day the beta opens — at a level 20 cap, rising to 30 after a couple of weeks (Clay Stone, Destin interview) — and Wowhead already reports the beta client is dataminable. Here is the class checklist we will be running against both:
- Any class post beyond Paladin. Blizzard promised them; the Q&A is the first natural slot.
- Dual spec. Not mentioned anywhere official so far — our tracker updates the hour it is answered.
- Shaman capstones. Do Lava Burst and Rage of the Farseer survive from the demo build into beta data?
- Enhancement dual-wield. Talent tree will settle the Reddit argument.
- The 16-point one-pointers. Only Paladin's are named; the other eight classes' new golds show up in the datamine.
- Racials for Gnome, Orc, Troll, Human, Skyborne in Blizzard's own words rather than a demo-floor readout.
- Level 20 reality check. With a 20 cap you can verify everything up to the 11-point gold and the level-6 / level-20 baseline changes; the 16 and 21 golds wait for the cap raise to 30.
Beta progress does not carry to live (Icy Veins), so nothing you learn there costs you anything on November 4. Beta access itself is the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99), the Warcraft Forever Collection ($79.99) or a CE code; the free Battle.net opt-in is chance-based. Details: beta guide; the panel-by-panel weekend: BlizzCon 2026.
Play the class that exists, not the one you remember
Most people re-rolling for Forever are choosing between a class they mained in 2019 and a combo that did not exist then. Two things help right now, and neither requires Blizzard to publish more:
- Coaching, $29/hour — a Pro walks your class through the published changes: merged hit/crit for hybrids, the four gold milestones, Seal of Fury rotation for a Paladin tank, Shaman totem changes from the demo build with the caveat attached. We say "not published yet" where that is the truth.
- 1–60 Leveling Boost, from $259 — pre-order, delivery from November 4, 2026; class, faction and ruleset (Normal / PvP / RP) are options on the slider. There are no paid Blizzard boosts and no WoW Token in Forever (Clay Stone: "no plans"), so a carry is the only skip that exists. Dedicated combo pages: Undead Paladin 1–60 and Dwarf Shaman 1–60, both $259.
Everything on this page is dated. When Blizzard posts the next class, the table in section one changes colour and the changelog at the top says so. Related: leveling, dungeons, Forever vs Classic.
