What changed for Mage in WoW Forever?
Blizzard reworked all 9 classes for Forever. The only full class kit published so far is the Paladin.
The
Mage kit is not published as of 23 September 2026.
Shared caster changes that every
Mage uses: spell, melee and ranged hit are 1 stat, crit is 1 stat, and caster weapons grant spell damage and healing.
Bonus healing on gear includes 1/3 as much bonus damage. That line matters more for healers. A
Mage still reads it on hybrid loot.
Confirmed class lines across Forever sit on class changes. Role context without a published
Mage kit is on the tier list.
Name reservation runs 27 October to 3 November 2026 for upgrade-pack owners. You can create and customize up to 3 characters. Names are claimed in order of arrival and are not guaranteed.
Orc Mage in WoW Forever
Orc
Mage is 1 of the 6 new race and class combos Blizzard named for Forever, with more planned later.
The other 5 named combos are
Gnome
Priest,
Human
Hunter,
Dwarf
Shaman,
Troll
Warlock and
Undead
Paladin.
Orc racials that hit a
Mage start with Blood Fury: +10% attack and spell power for 15s.
Shatter Curse grants curse and bane immunity plus magic DR for 8s. Hardiness cuts stun duration by 20%. Axe Spec adds +1% crit with axes.
Blood Fury and Shatter Curse are the lines a caster
Orc actually presses. Axe Spec sits on the list because Orcs keep the weapon racial across classes.
Orc
Mage is free with a normal subscription. It does not need the Skyborne pack.
Best race for Mage in WoW Forever

High Order Skyborne is the
Alliance-only
Mage path for the new race.
Horde Skyborne unlock
Shaman instead of Mage.
A Skyborne
Mage starts on
Zephras Isle from levels 1 to 12. The race needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher. The Skyborne Heroic Pack is $29.99, the Skyborne Epic Pack $59.99 and the Warcraft Forever Collection $79.99 on the US Battle.net shop.
Full racial text is on racials. Skyborne faction rules are on Skyborne.
Can a Mage heal in WoW Forever?

Mage healer and Mage healing for Forever. Blizzard has not published a Mage healing kit as of 23 September 2026.
The 9 playable classes stay the Classic set.
Mage remains a caster damage class in every published Forever line.
Healing power including 1/3 bonus damage is a gear rule for the whole game. It does not turn
Mage into a healer role.
If you want a published healer kit on day 1, read Paladin or Shaman.
Priest racials and race picks sit on classes.
Mage talents at 20 and at 60
Talent trees keep the Classic shape: 3 trees, the same row count, and 1-point milestones at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus a new milestone at 16.
Some
talents stay as in patch 1.12. Some are adjusted. New ones fill space left when class buffs moved to baseline.
Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild are baseline now. A
Mage group no longer parks those points on support classes.
An explicit total of 51 talent points is not published as of 23 September 2026.
Beta runs from 17 September to 21 October 2026. Progress does not carry to live. Use beta to feel the trees early. Live
level 60 builds wait for Blizzard's class posts.
Blizzard's design aim is that all 27 talent trees earn a group spot. Milestone reading for every class is on the talent calculator page.
