Fire, Frost and Arcane at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 (PvE)

Fire (raid default). Crit and ignite identity. Watch threat: a pet-less caster sits next to the tank's meter on dungeons packs. Evocation / drink between pulls.

Frost (leveling and trash). Chill buys drink time. Blizzard identity for packs. Swap to Fire when the kit posts if parses demand it.

Arcane. Leave until Blizzard names the golds. Do not invent a 51-point Classic total. Recheck the talent calculator.

Mage BiS by week (PvE)

Intellect, spell hit, spell crit. Staff or 1H + off-hand. Named lists stay provisional.

Week 1. Quest caster blues. Get week-1 gear done.

Weeks 2–3. Pre-raid dungeon set across Forever's 9 new dungeons. 1 clear for quests. Get the dungeon set done.

From 9 December. Barrow Deeps (10), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia. A Mage still in the 50s misses lockouts. Raid carry options.

Blink skips packs, so deaths stay low, but quest XP still runs about 150 hours. Pack $299 or $420. Normal realm. Mage power leveling.
