Rogue changes in WoW Forever
- November 2, 2026 development notes. Rogues learn Shank at level 24, with rank 2 at 44, and Poised at level 18. Thousand Cuts, Cutthroat, Quietus, Murder and Improved Distract are removed. Death Mark is the new Subtlety 31-point talent. Mutilate moves to row 7 of Assassination and Venom to row 5. Deadly Poison and Instant Poison now get twice the attack power coefficient.
- October 15, 2026 patch notes.
Rogue gets fixes only in the 15 October notes, and Sap no longer triggers weapon procs.
Human Sword Specialization is replaced by Ruthless, now +1% critical strike chance on all spells and attacks (was 2%).
Orc Axe Specialization is gone, and Savage, its replacement, is removed too. Blood Fury's cooldown is 2 minutes (was 3). Shatter Curse no longer grants immunity, and it cuts magic damage taken by 5% (was 15%).
Undead
Touch of the Grave procs 30% for casters and 20% for
Paladins, Rogues and
Warriors (was 10% and 5%), with a cooldown of 15 seconds (was 25).
Will of the Forsaken can't be used under Scatter Shot. Every change is in the October 15 patch notes.
The
Rogue got its Forever class deep dive on 7 October 2026, the same day as the
Warlock, so all 9 classes now have a written kit. Blizzard still calls the Rogue the master of Stealth, the only class with Poisons and the class with the highest single-target melee damage potential in the game.
Baseline changes. Every poison has more charges and now stacks with Sharpening Stones and Weightstones. Sap no longer breaks Stealth, so you can take 1 mob out of a pack and stay hidden. Distract also makes the targets worse at spotting Stealth for 10 seconds. Feint drops twice as much threat. Expose Armor now matches 5 Sunder Armors and no longer blocks a
Warrior's Sunder.
Rogues can also learn 1-handed axes.
The game-wide rules already shape a
Rogue. Spell, melee and ranged hit count as 1 stat, and crit merges across all 3 the same way. Items carry less weapon skill each than they did in Classic, and Precision now adds hit to poisons as well as weapon attacks.
Rogue
talent trees keep their Classic shape, with
gold milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Some talents are the same as in 1.12, others were adjusted, and Dual Specialization unlocks at
level 40.
Buffs that once cost talent points are baseline now: Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild. None of them takes a tree's points anymore.
All confirmed class lines are on class changes, and the 9 classes side by side are on classes.

Gnome for Energy, Undead for fear breaks: your Rogue at 60 before the raids
Pick the race, and a booster takes the quest route off your evenings. Race and faction are set before the 1st session.

Build your Starter Pack →Can Rogues tank in WoW Forever?
No. The 7 October
Rogue kit adds no tank tools: no taunt, no defensive stance and no threat
talent. Feint now drops twice as much threat, which points the class the other way.
Deflection now gives twice as much Parry per point, and Endurance cuts the Evasion and Sprint cooldowns further. Those help a
Rogue survive a loose pull. They do not hold a boss.
The tank specs Blizzard has detailed in Forever are Protection
Paladin with Seal of Fury, Protection
Warrior with Vanguard and the Bear
Druid with Primal Bite. Enhancement
Shaman can off-tank short fights in small groups with Spirit Weapons and Rockbiter Weapon.
What a
Rogue gives a tank is control. Sap no longer breaks Stealth, so you can take 1 mob out of a big pack before the pull, which is exactly the job Blizzard wrote the change for.
If you want to tank in Forever, read Paladin or Warrior. Role ranks sit on the tier list.
Best race for Rogue in WoW Forever
9 races can be
Rogue.
Tauren cannot. The official Create the Hero matrix is the source for every cell.
| Race | Faction | Racial hooks for Rogue |
|---|---|---|
| Escape Artist, Eureka!, Expansive Mind (+5% Energy), | ||
| Perception (reveals stealth 20s), Ruthless (+1% crit on all spells and attacks), Will to Survive, | ||
| Shadowmeld, Quickness (+1% Dodge, +2% run, stacks with other speed bonuses), Elune's Light (+10% crit 15s), Wisp Spirit | ||
| Skyborne (High Order) | Walk on Air, Read Ley Line, Wind Blessed (+2% haste), Elemental Insight | |
| Blood Fury (+10% AP/SP 15s, 2 min cooldown), Shatter Curse (5% less magic damage taken), Hardiness (−20% stun), Command (+5% Warlock and Hunter pet damage) | ||
| Berserking (+10% cast/attack speed 15s), Rapid Regeneration, Beast Slaying, Regeneration (20%, was 10%) | ||
| Skyborne (Windshaper) | Walk on Air, Skysight (+15% run for 15s), Wind Blessed, Elemental Insight |
Every race now has 2 active and 2 passive racials. Blizzard reworked them to feel stronger and more distinct without pushing every race toward the same strengths.
Gnome is the search favorite for Energy and Escape Artist.
Undead stays the PvP pick for
Will of the Forsaken.
Human Perception is the published racial that reveals stealthed enemies. Ruthless replaces Sword Specialization and now gives +1% critical strike chance on all spells and attacks (was 2%).
Night Elf keeps Shadowmeld and Quickness for open-world stealth play. Quickness now stacks with other movement speed bonuses.
Orc Blood Fury and Hardiness matter in burst windows. Savage is removed, and Blood Fury's cooldown is 2 minutes (was 3). Shatter Curse no longer grants immunity and cuts magic damage taken by 5% (was 15%).
Troll Berserking is a 15 s haste window (was 10). Troll Regeneration rises from 10% to 20%.
Skyborne
Rogue is available on both factions. The race needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack, and every Skyborne Rogue spends levels 1 to 12 on
Zephras Isle.
Full racial text is on racials and Skyborne. Combo matrix context is on classes.
Gnome Rogue and Undead Rogue
Gnome
Rogue is a Classic combo and remains in Forever. It is separate from the 6 new combos Blizzard named at reveal.
A
Gnome
Rogue gains 5% maximum Energy from Expansive Mind.
Eureka! is now a buff that lasts 8 seconds, with no charges and the same effect:
Rogue abilities cost less and deal 10% more damage while it runs. Escape Artist clears root and snare for a brief window.
Engineering Spec makes devices more reliable. Those 4 lines are why
Gnome leads many "best race" searches for
Rogue.
Undead
Rogue stays on the
Horde matrix. An Undead Rogue uses
Will of the Forsaken to break free of Charm, Fear and Sleep. It no longer grants immunity after the cast, and since the 15 October notes it can't be used under Scatter Shot.
Cannibalize restores 35% Health and Mana.
Touch of the Grave adds a chance to drain health: 20% for
Rogues since the 15 October notes (was 5%), with a cooldown of 15 seconds (was 25).
Underwater Breathing is +300%.
Neither race is new for
Rogue. Both still matter because Forever racials were rebuilt, and the Energy and fear lines moved with them.
Rogue talents at 20 and 60
Each of the
Rogue's 3 trees still has 7 rows, with
gold milestones worth 1 point at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points spent. Blizzard named the Rogue golds on 7 October, and the 2 November notes moved several of them.
| Tree | 16-point gold | 21-point gold | 31-point gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assassination | Cold Blood (moved down from 21) | Venom (row 5 since 2 November) | Mutilate (row 7 since 2 November) |
| Combat | Flawless Execution (new) | Not changed in the post | Not changed in the post |
| Subtlety | None (Premeditation moved to row 3) | Not changed in the post | Death Mark (new on 2 November) |
Assassination is the dagger and poison tree. Mutilate strikes with both daggers for 60 Energy, hits harder on poisoned targets and awards 2 combo points. It deals 90% weapon damage (was 75%). Venom is now a passive. Each Shank raises your Poison damage by 30% and your chance to apply Poisons by 20% for 6 seconds. Improved Poisons now gives poisons a large chance not to spend a charge.
Combat supports every weapon type. Hack and Slash replaces the old Dagger, Mace, Sword and Fist specializations and adds axes, which get the sword's extra-attack chance. Flawless Execution makes Eviscerate cost 15 less Energy (was 10). Aggression now raises Sinister Strike and Eviscerate damage by 5/10/15% and no longer raises Backstab.
Subtlety is the tricks and bleeds tree. Premeditation now lasts 20 seconds and sits on row 3. Dirty Tricks makes Sap and Blind much cheaper. Ghostly Strike now lets your next Ambush or Garrote within 7 seconds skip Stealth. Death Mark, the new 31-point talent, is a 25 Energy Curse finisher with a 10 s cooldown. It stores part of your damage per Combo Point, Garrote and Rupture at twice the rate, and deals it after 6 seconds.
The beta ran to 23 October, and its level cap rose from 20 to 30 on 1 October, so a beta
Rogue reached the golds at 11, 16 and 21 points. You change
talents at a class trainer in a major city, and Dual Specialization at
level 40 lets a Rogue keep a
raid tree and a PvP tree.
Point-by-point builds are on Rogue PvE and Rogue PvP. Milestone reading is on the talent calculator page.
Leveling a Rogue 1 to 60
A
Rogue's climb tops out at
level 60, and Blizzard frames it with 1,000+ new
quests from 1 to 60. Monsters never scale to your level.
Forever has no flying
mounts. The cost of a mount now sits in riding training, and a
Rogue gets the mount when the riding skill is learned. Blizzard has not published the
gold cost or the level for riding yet. Details sit on mounts.
Only a Skyborne
Rogue starts somewhere new:
Zephras Isle, for levels 1 to 12. Every other race opens in its Classic starting zone, then heads out to the shared continents.
From the mid 30s to the mid 40s, the
Riverglades frontier holds 150+ new quests. Blizzard also names Shen'dralas and
Mount Hyjal as adventure regions.
Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron are 2 of the 9 new
dungeons, and Blizzard lists them for levels 13 to 18 and 15 to 20. Legacy Challenges group dungeons into 15 to 25, 26 to 45 and 46 to 60. Clear each dungeon once for its quest XP, then go back to the open world. The 1 October beta build cut the bonus XP from dungeon quests by 50%, and beta groups now skip most trash, so the open-world quests carry even more of the route. The full list is on the dungeons page.
On 9 December 2026 the
raids unlock:
Barrow Deeps for 10 players and
Hyjal Summit for 20.
Onyxia's Lair opens the same day for 40. Plan that week on raids.
Each bracket of the route is on leveling and power leveling, with the instances on dungeons.
In Classic, Stealth let a
Rogue walk past the mobs between quest objectives. The quests themselves still add up to about 150 hours of play from 1 to 60.

Stealth saves the walking, and a booster saves the hours.
Pick your Rogue →1 booster plays your Rogue 12 hours a day. Free live stream, 24/7, 100% of the playtime.
Rogue to 60 before the raids
A booster can take a
Rogue to 60 before the
raids unlock on 9 December. LFCarry leveling with 1 booster: launch $399. With 2 boosters: launch $599.
Race and faction are yours to choose before the 1st session starts. A human Pro plays your
Rogue in our own gaming hubs, on a PC dedicated to your account and a residential IP in your city, so it looks exactly like you playing from home. Want the character on your own PC the whole time? Remote control through Parsec is +30% on the leveling page.
Prefer to play the
Rogue yourself? A Pro on /wow-forever/coaching walks your stealth openers, the 7 October golds for your tree and the racial that fits your build, then plans the route from 1 to 60.
