What is Ruins of Lordaeron in WoW Forever?
Ruins of Lordaeron is 1 of the 9 new
dungeons in World of Warcraft: Forever. The Ruins open with the game on 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM PST. Blizzard lists it beside Hall of Thanes, the Excavation Site, City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, the Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison and the Shaper's Terrace.
The published story hook is the
Forsaken reclaiming the ruins of their capital. Scourge still hold corners of the site. A necromancer has moved in. Blizzard has not published boss names, cast lists or a loot table for the Ruins yet.
Beta players already walked this dungeon while the level cap sat at 20 and then 30. The 1 October build that raised the cap to 30 also opened the new Excavation Site: Wetlands dungeon plus Razorfen Downs and Uldaman. The 8 October build added the City of Dalaran dungeon. Blizzard’s PAX Aus keynote aired on 8 October 2026 at 6:00 PM PDT, billed as an in-depth look at one of the new Forever dungeons. All 9 new dungeons open together on launch day. Classic dungeons stay in the game beside them. The full launch set is on the WoW Forever dungeons page.

Clear the Ruins once, reach 60 before the raids
The booster runs the Ruins once for its quests and blue drops, then quests on to 60.

WoW Forever Power Leveling & Gearing
Where is Ruins of Lordaeron? Undercity entrance
The
dungeon sits in the Lordaeron ruins around the Undercity. That is the
Forsaken capital in
Tirisfal Glades on the Eastern Kingdoms. Blizzard has not published a door coordinate, a map pin or an interior layout.
Horde players enter as allies of the
Forsaken reclaiming their home.
Alliance players find a way in uninvited. Plan the
Tirisfal travel route before you form a party. Flying
mounts do not exist in Forever, so the run-in matters.
Realmless play still keeps factions separate on every ruleset. A
Horde friend on your ruleset can join you. An
Alliance friend on the same ruleset cannot. Groups also stay inside 1 ruleset. Normal, PvP and Roleplaying cannot mix for dungeon runs.
Hardcore arrives after launch. See Realmless for the wall rules.
If you roll
Forsaken for the story, the Undead Paladin line also starts in
Tirisfal at Bandarion Keep. That path sits next to this dungeon. It is separate from the dungeon script.
What level for Ruins of Lordaeron?
Ruins of Lordaeron is a level 15 to 20
dungeon, the range Blizzard gives for it. Only Hall of Thanes, at 13 to 18, sits lower among the new dungeons. The Ruins were already playable in the beta, under the level 20 cap and then under 30.
Blizzard's Legacy Challenges add a separate grouping: dungeons at levels 15 to 25, 26 to 45 and 46 to 60. Those bands describe the returning dungeon pool and the challenge wording, and that wording names no dungeon by level.
| Legacy dungeon band | What Blizzard wrote |
|---|---|
| 15 to 25 | All level 15 to 25 dungeons |
| 26 to 45 | All level 26 to 45 dungeons |
| 46 to 60 | All level 46 to 60 dungeons |
There is no level scaling, so the
Forsaken capital stays as hard as its 15 to 20 range. Undead packs punish a loose pull, and control, threat and focus targets matter each time. Keep Polymorph, banish, root and trap ready, and save AoE for pulls that have settled.
Walk into the ruins with a tank, a healer and crowd control, and change that plan only when a patch note does.
Ruins of Lordaeron bosses: what Blizzard has shown
The
Forsaken are fighting to take back the ruins of their capital. Scourge left behind still hold some rooms, and a necromancer has moved in. That story is what Blizzard has shown of the
Ruins of Lordaeron so far.
Blizzard has not named a single boss here. Its posts give no encounter names, health figures, phase timers or ability cards, and this page will list the bosses once Blizzard posts them.
The design notes for Forever
dungeons favour tactical pulls over open AoE, so plan for undead trash that punishes an overpull. The tank holds a few targets, and a controller uses sheep, sap, fear or trap on the rest. Healers work hard whenever a pull goes wide.
In the open world a solo player needs about 10 to 15 seconds for a normal mob, and instances move slower than modern retail. Plan for undead packs and a necromancer finale.
Ruins of Lordaeron loot rules Blizzard published
Blizzard has not posted a loot table for the
Ruins of Lordaeron. Item names, drop rates, sockets and set pieces for this
dungeon are missing from Blizzard's posts.
Blizzard did publish the dungeon loot rules that apply here. Every unique dungeon boss item is now blue. Hundreds of new drops were added across the dungeon pool. Weak items were improved. Favourite older pieces stay. Quest rewards were expanded across dungeon lines as well.
Dungeon bosses can drop
Blueprint recipes. Those unlock advanced camping objects that grant 1-hour buffs at a campsite. A
level 60 still has a reason to revisit early dungeons for those recipes. How camps work is on the camping page.
Transmog rules favour dungeon groups. An uncommon or rare bind-on-pickup dungeon appearance unlocks for every eligible looter. Epic
raid appearances unlock only for the binder. Poor and common looks unlock on loot. Armor type still gates what you can wear. High-level appearances stay locked until level 60.
Track turn-ins on the quests page as Blizzard adds them.
Book a dungeon run →Book the run on your ruleset and faction. Self-play or piloted, live from 4 November 2026. Pair it with leveling at $299 with 1 booster or $420 with 2 if you still need 60.
1st-clear plan before the 9 December raids
Ruins of Lordaeron is the early new
dungeon on the
Horde side of the map, at levels 15 to 20.
Pick up the Ruins
quests outside the entrance before you go in. The 1st clear pays the most, with raised quest XP, the turn-ins and blue boss items for 15 to 20. Turn in once, then carry on with the
Tirisfal and
Silverpine quests, since repeat runs add less XP than the 1st. The 1 October beta build cut the bonus XP from dungeon quests by 50%. The 8 October 2026 build raised XP from dungeon kills by about 20% and fixed a bug that tied party XP to the highest-level member. Blizzard is still taking feedback, so treat those XP values as not final.
Forever has no Dungeon Finder. The group finder is a listing board where the leader invites players by hand, and since the 1 October build every listing picks a playstyle: Learning, Relaxed, Competitive or Carry Offered (observed on the beta; Blizzard's notes do not list it yet). A Learning listing suits a 1st Ruins clear.
Every
raid on 9 December needs
level 60, so treat this clear as an early stop and keep leveling.
Alliance groups can run it, but the trip across
Tirisfal is long and hostile. For an Alliance character, the nearer early dungeon is Hall of Thanes under
Ironforge.
Choose your ruleset before launch week, since a party never spans 2 rulesets. From 4 November you can book a Ruins clear by name on our dungeon runs page.

The Ruins clear is already built into those calendars, between levels 15 and 20. Our leveling to 60 guide walks the whole route. The leveling speed guide has the hour-by-hour pace.

Reserve
Ruins of Lordaeron when you want the
Forsaken capital cleared once at 15 to 20. Name your ruleset and faction. Self-play or piloted both work. In self-play you play and our Pro joins your party on the same ruleset, so the invite goes through. Piloted, a human Pro plays your character in our own gaming hubs, on a PC dedicated to your account and a residential IP in your city, so it looks exactly like you playing from home.
Undead characters start on the doorstep, so the clear fits neatly into
Tirisfal leveling.
Alliance buyers can add help for the long trip into the ruins.
Your 1st clear brings the Ruins
