Level 10. Open Prot. Mail then plate. Keep a shield equipped. Fury dual-wield is the wrong threat model for this page.

Level 20 to 40. Spend golds in Protection. Sunder Armor is the stack you keep on the boss. Taunt range is still a Classic 5 yards until Blizzard says otherwise. Bring a kick class for caster packs in dungeons.

Level 50 to 60. Finish Prot, then the Forever 16-point row. Stats: stamina, then strength. Recheck the talent calculator when the kit posts.

Protection Warrior BiS by week (PvE)

Prot BiS prefers a shield every slot upgrade. Stamina, armor, dodge / block. Named lists stay provisional.

Week 1. Quest blues with a shield swap every few levels. Get week-1 gear done.

Weeks 2–3. Pre-raid dungeon set. 1 run per instance for quests. Get the dungeon set done.

From 9 December. Barrow Deeps (10), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia. A Prot Warrior still leveling in the 50s misses tanks needed for opening lockouts. Raid carry options.

Classic Warrior had Taunt. Forever has not posted the Prot tree. Plan around a 5-yard taunt until the class article lands.
