What changed for Mage in WoW Forever?
Blizzard reworked all 9 classes for Forever. Its 1st full class preview covers the Paladin.
Blizzard has not published the
Mage kit yet.
Shared caster changes that every
Mage uses: spell, melee and ranged hit are 1 stat, crit is 1 stat, and caster weapons grant spell damage and healing.
Bonus healing on gear includes 1/3 as much bonus damage. That line matters more for healers. A
Mage still reads it on hybrid loot.
Confirmed class lines across Forever sit on class changes. Role context without a published
Mage kit is on the tier list.
If you own an upgrade pack, you can reserve your
Mage's name from 27 October to 3 November 2026. During that window you can create and customize up to 3 characters. Names are handed out in the order players claim them, so a popular Mage name can still be taken.
Any of the 6 Mage races at 60 before Hyjal Summit opens
On the quest route the hours go to whoever sits at the keyboard. A booster takes them on your Mage, with a full refund before the 1st session.

WoW Forever Power Leveling & Gearing
Orc Mage in WoW Forever
Orc
Mage is 1 of the 6 new race and class combos Blizzard named for Forever, with more planned later.
The other 5 named combos are
Gnome
Priest,
Human
Hunter,
Dwarf
Shaman,
Troll
Warlock and
Undead
Paladin.
Orc racials that hit a
Mage start with Blood Fury: +10% attack and spell power for 15s.
Shatter Curse grants curse and bane immunity plus magic DR for 8s. Hardiness cuts stun duration by 20%. Axe Spec adds +1% crit with axes.
Blood Fury and Shatter Curse are the lines a caster
Orc actually presses. Axe Spec sits on the list because Orcs keep the weapon racial across classes.
Orc
Mage is free with a normal subscription. It does not need the Skyborne pack.
Best race for Mage in WoW Forever
6 races can roll a
Mage in Forever. On the
Horde side they are
Orc,
Troll and
Undead, and on the
Alliance side
Gnome,
Human and High Order Skyborne.
The published tables leave
Mage off the
Tauren,
Dwarf,
Night Elf and Windshaper Skyborne rows.
| Race | Faction | Racials that hit Mage play |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Fury (+10% AP/SP, 15s); Shatter Curse; Hardiness (−20% stun duration) | ||
| Escape Artist; Eureka! (−cost / +10% damage or heal on next 3 spells); Expansive Mind (+5% Mana) | ||
| Will to Survive (remove stuns); The | ||
| Berserking (+10% cast and attack speed, 10s); Rapid Regeneration; Regeneration (10% regen in combat) | ||
| High Order Skyborne | Walk on Air; Read Ley Line (+100% Health and Mana regen); Wind Blessed (+1% haste); Elemental Insight |
Of the 2 Skyborne factions, only the
Alliance's High Order gets the
Mage. Windshaper Skyborne on the
Horde side get the
Shaman in its place.
Skyborne
Mages play levels 1 to 12 on
Zephras Isle, and the race comes with the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a bigger pack. On the US Battle.net shop the Heroic Pack costs $29.99, the Epic Pack $59.99 and the Warcraft Forever Collection $79.99.
Every racial in full is on racials, and the faction rules for the new race are on Skyborne.
Can a Mage heal in WoW Forever?

Mage healer and Mage healing for Forever. Blizzard has not published a Mage healing kit.
The 9 playable classes stay the Classic set.
Mage remains a caster damage class in every published Forever line.
Healing power including 1/3 bonus damage is a gear rule for the whole game. It does not turn
Mage into a healer role.
If you want a published healer kit on day 1, read Paladin or Shaman.
Priest racials and race picks sit on classes.
Mage talents at 20 and at 60
Blizzard's stated aim for Forever is that all 27
talent trees earn a place in a group, the
Mage's 3 among them. Arcane, Fire and Frost were their Classic names. Blizzard has not named the Forever talents inside those Mage trees yet.
Each
Mage tree keeps its Classic row count. Milestones worth 1 point sit at 11, 21 and 31, and a new milestone arrives at 16. Some talents are untouched since patch 1.12, some were tuned, and some are new, filling room freed by buffs that became baseline.
Improved Mark of the Wild, Blessing of Kings and Divine Spirit are those baseline buffs. The support classes around a
Mage stop spending points on them.
Blizzard has not confirmed a Forever total of 51 points. Test the
Mage trees in the beta, open from 17 September to 21 October 2026, knowing that beta progress stays behind.
Level 60 Mage builds come after Blizzard's class posts. The talent calculator page explains the milestones for every class.
Leveling a Mage from 1 to 60
For a
Mage, the 3 XP rules Blizzard confirmed decide the route. Dungeon mobs give less XP than before. The 1st run of each
dungeon's
quests gives more. The curve itself from 1 to 60 is unchanged from Classic.
Orc,
Troll and
Undead
Mages start on the
Horde side, and
Gnome and
Human Mages on the
Alliance side. A High Order Skyborne Mage plays levels 1 to 12 on
Zephras Isle before joining the shared world. Launch is 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM PST, with every character at level 1 and the cap at 60.
Forever writes 1,000+ new quests into the journey from 1 to 60. Around the mid 30s to the mid 40s, 150+ of them are in the
Riverglades. The late levels belong to
Mount Hyjal, the endgame leveling zone Blizzard named. Food can add a small XP bonus as well as stats. Flying
mounts do not exist in Forever.
Blizzard has given every new dungeon a level range.
Hall of Thanes is 13 to 18, and Shaper's Terrace closes the list at 58 to 60. Legacy Challenges sort dungeon work into 15 to 25, 26 to 45 and 46 to 60. Raids arrive 5 weeks after launch, on 9 December.
Each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points at launch, from a pool of up to 65. The Well Rested pick raises rested XP gain and the rested cap.
Hardcore joins some time after launch.
Every step of the route is in the leveling guide, and the dungeon guide covers each instance on the way. If you would rather not play the whole climb yourself, book a Mage leveling boost.
In Classic the fastest
Mages leveled on AoE pulls in dungeons. Forever reduces dungeon mob-kill XP, so a Mage levels on the quest route like every other class. That route is about 150 hours of play from 1 to 60.

Orc,
Gnome,
Human,
Troll,
Undead or Skyborne, a
Mage on the quest route picks 1 of these 3 clocks.
Mage at 60 before the 9 December raids
A
Mage needs
level 60 to
raid, and the 1st raids open on 9 December 2026:
Hyjal Summit for 20 players and the
Barrow Deeps for 10.
Blizzard has not announced dual specialization, so plan to raid the 1st weeks in 1
talent tree. An
Orc
Mage that is still leveling that week misses the opening lockouts.
The LFCarry leveling pre-order is $299 when 1 booster plays and $420 when 2 boosters share the hours, then $399 and $599 after the pre-order window. Ask early if you want the
Orc
Mage name held during reservation week.
