October 15, 2026 patch notes. Shield Specialization now returns 4% mana (was 6%), and Reckoning stores a charge each time it triggers, for extra attacks on your next swing. Righteous Fury's Holy threat rises from 60% to 90%. Salvation and Mass Salvation replace the Salvation blessings and no longer take a Blessing slot. Full list: October 15 patch notes. The new 15v15 battleground is Battle for the Darkspear Islands, for levels 30 to 60. It is built for a flag tank: teams hold 4 capture points and carry a central flag to a base they control, 1st to 2,000 points. A Prot Paladin with Seal of Fury up is the carrier who survives the run. Before launch, the Forever Open duel tournament on 17 and 18 October runs on level 30 Horde characters, so Undead is the Paladin race on that stage.

Level 40 to 60. Templar's Bulwark is the big absorb. Shield Specialization now returns 4% mana (was 6%), and Reckoning stores a charge each time it triggers, for extra attacks on your next swing. No interrupt still means you peel with stun and taunt. Finish Prot, then the Forever 16-point row.

Protection Paladin BiS by week (PvP)

Prot PvP gear is a shield, stamina, then block. Rank 10 is week 7 and Rank 13 is week 9. Named slots stay provisional.

How rank gear works (Blizzard, 7 October 2026). Honor buys a blue and an epic PvP set, and each epic upgrade needs an Emboldened Seal with a rank requirement. Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests with a weekly cap. Rewards run from a tabard at Rank 1 to a mount at Rank 11 and epic weapons at Rank 14. Since the 1 October beta build Honor prices are about 50% higher and the Honor cap is 25,000.

Week 1. Mail with a shield from the quest route. Skip 2H Ret drops. Get week-1 gear done.

Weeks 2 to 3. Dungeon tank pieces for node holds while you still queue. Get the dungeon set done.

Rank weeks. Honor plate that stacks stamina and block. Skip Spirit. Darkspear Islands adds 2 reputations, Darkspear Raiders and the Theramore Expeditionary Force, with their own gear and a tabard at Exalted. Get Rank 14 done.

From 9 December. Tank loot from Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia into the same nodes. Raid carry options.
