The Short Answer: Two Paths After Max Soldier Rank
Official NEXT multiplayer copy plus the announcement: prestige is at launch. You pick a path after max Soldier Rank. Classic resets level unlocks and Create-a-Class, grants higher XP and exclusive rewards, and points at Prestige Mastery. Regular sends you back to Level 1 and keeps Create-a-Class unlocks, with a subset of prestige rewards.

What is still unpublished: the military rank number that is “max,” how many prestige levels exist, whether seasonal prestige exists, and the named prestige-camo list. A product page on this site may quote Soldier Rank 1→55 as a service scope. That is not an Activision rank cap. If you want a pro on the path you pick, rank leveling — a pro starts when the servers open on 23 October. Cancel for a full refund any time before the session starts.
Sibling camo page: nine mastery tracks. Weapon levels sit on a different ladder: weapons list.
Classic Prestige versus Regular Prestige

Classic Prestige is the full-reset path. Official wording: reset level unlocks and Create-a-Class; higher XP; exclusive rewards; goal of Prestige Mastery. If your loadouts, perk picks, and unlocked guns living in those slots matter more than the exclusive-reward set, Classic is the expensive choice in time. If the exclusive-reward set and Prestige Mastery are the product you want, Classic is the path official copy names for that goal.
Regular Prestige returns you to Level 1 while keeping Create-a-Class unlocks and grants a subset of prestige rewards. You still start the Soldier Rank climb again. You do not throw the class you just built into the bin. Official copy does not say Regular can reach Prestige Mastery. Do not invent that it can — or that it cannot — beyond “subset of prestige rewards.”
You pick after max Soldier Rank. You cannot evaluate the pick until the client shows you the printed cap and the reward lists. Those lists are unpublished today. This page will not pretend a Black Ops 7 prestige count is MW4’s count.
Ask LFCarry →Free. We will not invent a rank cap or a prestige count.
Soldier Rank — What the August Test Printed

Official progression guide + EYNTK: Weekend 1 cap Level 20; Weekend 2 cap Level 30. Rank titles used in that window: Private I–V through Staff Sergeant V. Gameplay progression reset after the test. Cosmetics persist on the Activision account. Level-unlock cosmetics from that window (emblem, charm, sticker, calling card, Dread Tiger / Reece skin, spray, loading screen, Beta Forged blueprint) persist; the Beta Forged gun is contradicted in official copy (Han 86 versus ISO Nightshade).
A progression-guide header once said “Weekend One: Progress through Level 30…” and the body correctly capped Weekend 1 at 20 / Weekend 2 at 30. We print the body.
Those test caps are not a launch Soldier Rank cap. Do not write “max is 30” or “max is 55” as Activision. 55 appears on this site only as a product rung on rank leveling — a scope we can deliver, not a leaked official number.
What Is Still Unpublished

Official MW4 pages fetched 13 September 2026 do not print:
- Military rank cap (the “55” question).
- How many prestige levels exist, or whether Prestige Mastery is a numbered last tier.
- Seasonal prestige.
- A named prestige-camo list. A Prestige Mastery Camo Showcase video title exists. YouTube first-looks (Exclusion Zone, and other community names) are not an official written table.
- Whether Regular can finish the same prestige-camo set as Classic.
Weapon level caps from the official test weapons guide are a different system (Han 86 68, Signal .50 73, Combat Knife 30, and the rest on the weapons page). Prestige does not replace weapon leveling. Apex Attachments still sit at max weapon level and do not consume a Gunsmith slot.
How to Choose on 23 October
Open the prestige prompt when you hit the printed cap. Read the reward lists in the client. If Create-a-Class is the product you refuse to lose, Regular is the official path that keeps it. If Prestige Mastery and exclusive rewards are the product, Classic is the official path that names that goal.
If you want both — a finished class and Classic rewards — you will prestige more than once, or you will pay for time. How many times is unpublished. A “max prestige” product on this site is scoped as every Classic prestige rank Activision ships at launch, through Prestige Mastery — never a count we invent.
Ranked Play is a different ladder and is not dated. See ranked guide. Do not spend a Classic reset the night before a ranked open you cannot date.
RICOCHET is live in MW4. Permanent bans since MW (2019) may be ineligible. We do not write “zero bans.” Hand-played or piloted, VPN-matched; if a suspension is on us we re-do or refund.

Dates That Touch Rank
Launch is Friday 23 October 2026. Campaign Early Access from 16 October is the Campaign only — it does not start Soldier Rank in Multiplayer. Season 1’s day is unpublished; Battle Pass / BlackCell wait for that season’s pass to be in-game. The August test windows (21–25 and 28 August–1 September) are closed; gameplay rank from them does not carry.
Date page: release date. If you only want the story done before 23 October, that is campaign, not this ladder.
Reserve rank leveling on the rank page if you want a pro on Soldier Rank or a prestige path when the servers open. Cancel for a full refund any time before the session starts.

This page only states facts that sit on Activision Support, the official Call of Duty blog, the official store, or the Xbox Vault listing as of 14 September 2026. A number that is not on those pages is unpublished. The 2026 Modern Warfare 4 launch date is 23 October. Campaign Early Access for digital Standard and Vault pre-orders is 16 October 2026, Pacific Time, and it is the full Campaign. Vault Edition is listed at $99.99. Standard MSRP is unpublished on those pages. Listed platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — last-generation consoles are not on the list. Warzone Season 1 is when MW4 systems integrate; the calendar day of that season is unpublished. Ranked Play is not dated. A tactical-nuke threshold is not printed on official MW4 pages. The official launch weapon count is 33; twenty-two names sit in the official test guide and eleven names are unpublished. Twelve core 6v6 maps are named; six of those names were in the August test and six arrive on 23 October. Mastery camos are three per mode and nine in total; the nine names used on this site are as seen in the beta. Killstreaks at launch are listed as 17. An Activision account is required; a mobile phone number may be required. PC needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. RICOCHET is listed as live. Permanent bans since Modern Warfare (2019) may be ineligible. Preload windows and launch-hour clocks are unpublished. If a later official post names a map, a weapon, or a date this page omitted, the next refresh replaces the unpublished line — it does not invent the name first.
