How to Unlock Apex Attachments in MW4 (Season 1)

You unlock a gun's Apex Attachment by taking that gun to its max Weapon Level in Modern Warfare 4. The Apex is the last reward on the gun's track.

Max levels run from 37 to 75. The .50 GS pistol maxes at 37, and the KG-7 Vulcan sniper rifle at 75.

MW4 launched with 28 Apex Attachments, 1 for each supported gun. The 4 launchers and the combat knife have none.

An Apex equips in its own slot, so it uses none of your attachment slots. Many of them block the parts of the gun they replace.

Season 1, live since 6 November, adds 5 more: 3 on new guns and 2 as event rewards.

A PRO can take the guns you name to max level on your account, Apex included.

Each Apex unlocks at its gun's max Weapon Level. The list follows the in-game class order.

The PILA, RPG-8, JOKR, PM-40 Anvil and the FSS Carbon Edge 1095 knife have no Apex. Each of them maxes at level 46.

An Apex changes what the gun does. The Oden turns into a semi-auto sniper, and the MAR-9 and the .50 GS turn fully automatic.

It sits in its own Apex slot in Gunsmith. Your normal attachments stay on.

Many Apex Attachments block the slots they replace. The Han X20 Skybreaker blocks the optic, stock and barrel, and the M4 Hurricane blocks the barrel and magazine.

Weapon Prestige resets the gun to level 1 and relocks its attachments. The Apex stays unlocked, and so do Blueprint attachments.

A 23 October fix stopped Apex Attachments from showing as locked again after a Weapon Prestige.

The Season 1 update landed at midnight ET on 6 November, 9 PM PT on 5 November. It brings 3 new guns with their own Apex, plus 2 new Apex for launch guns.

The Cronen Osprey and the CSG-35 are in the Season 1 Battle Pass from day 1. Their Apex unlocks at max level like any other.

The Hyeon Auto and the Kastov 545 are Wager Match event rewards. That event runs across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

1. Start with short tracks. Pistols max between 37 and 44, so their Apex comes 1st.
2. Level guns that share attachments. An attachment unlocks once for every gun. Owned ones turn later levels into Bonus Level Ups.
3. Save Weapon 2XP tokens for full matches. A token's timer runs only while you are in a match.
4. Play objective modes. Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint and Domination pay the most weapon XP.

An Apex unlock is a weapon leveling order on your account. A PRO plays the matches until each gun you name reaches max level and shows its Apex.

Choose 1, 5 or 10 guns, or all 33 launch guns. Every attachment unlocked on the way stays yours.

Max level also opens Weapon Prestige. A Pyroclast order takes it from there. The Gold camo order starts the camo grind.
