Highest rank in Deadlock: Eternus

Eternus is the highest rank in Deadlock. It held 0.54% of ranked players in Beta Season 1. From Eternus I up, a subrank has no fixed point cost. The thresholds update every day and split Eternus players by percentile. An Eternus player can only queue as a duo with another Eternus player within 3 subranks.

Above the ranks, each of the 5 regions keeps a leaderboard of up to 1,000 players. To appear on it, you need 75 matches in the last 30 days.

What rank is top 1%, 5% and 10% in Deadlock

The top 1% starts inside Ascendant. Ascendant and Eternus together held 1.62% of players, and Eternus alone held 0.54%.

The top 5% and the top 10% both start inside Oracle. Phantom and up held 4.61%, and Oracle and up held 12.38%.

Average rank in Deadlock: Sentinel

Line up every ranked player from lowest to highest, and the one in the middle is in Sentinel. 47.51% of players sit below Sentinel, and 52.49% sit at Sentinel or higher.

Seeker is the most common rank, with 19.12% of players.

How Deadlock ranked works: placements, points and parties

Deadlock has 2 queues. Standard mode is unranked and has no limits on party size. Ranked mode runs in seasons, and you climb from the rank your placements give you.

  • 8 placement matches: every player starts a season with 8 calibration games, played solo. Your old rank seeds them with a soft reset.
  • Oracle VI cap: placements can put you at Oracle VI at most. Phantom, Ascendant and Eternus are earned in ranked games after that.
  • Rank Points: each win or loss starts from a base of 300 points. A subrank costs 1,000 points, and the step from VI to the next rank costs 2,000.
  • Loss protection: at 0 points in subrank I, you keep your rank for 5 losses. At 0 points in any other subrank, you keep it for 2.
  • Parties: Ranked takes solo players and duos. A duo must be within 1 rank of each other, such as Mystic and Ritualist.
  • Hero swap: once the match forms, each player can swap to another unlocked hero 1 time and change lanes before it starts.
  • Ranked Hub: your rank, your Rank history and the leaderboards sit in the Ranked Hub in the hideout.
  • Season end: your highest rank goes into your Rank history and earns a hideout item.

How to unlock ranked in Deadlock

Access to Deadlock comes through a friend invite from a current playtester. A Deadlock invite gets a new account into the game.

Ranked mode opens after 60 wins in Standard mode. In Ranked you can only pick heroes with at least 15 Standard wins each, and you need 3 of them to queue. Spread the 60 wins over 3 heroes, 20 each, and both gates open at once.

A Deadlock ranked unlock plays the Standard wins with a PRO, from 1 win up to the full 60.

Deadlock Beta Season 1: start and end date

Beta Season 1 started on 30 July 2026, the day Ranked mode launched. Its original end date was 7 October. On 6 October it was extended to 5 November 2026, ending at 2 PM Pacific time. The next season starts right after it ends.

Beta Season 1 opened with 8 placement matches for every player and a soft reset of their old rank. Valve plans longer seasons later, with splits inside each season.

How to rank up in Deadlock

  1. Build your 3 heroes early. Ranked only lets you pick heroes with 15 Standard wins, so win those games on purpose.
  2. Treat placements as finals. All 8 are solo, and they can lift you as high as Oracle VI.
  3. Use the pre-game swap. If your team lacks a frontline, swap once into a hero that fills it before the match starts.
  4. Duo with a close partner. A duo must sit within 1 rank, so pick a partner at your rank or next to it.
  5. Push past subrank VI. The last step of each rank costs 2,000 points, and it is the most crowded step in every rank up to Oracle.

Pick the heroes for your pool with the Deadlock tier list and the Deadlock hero builds.

Stuck in 1 subrank? A Deadlock rank boost takes your account to the rank you pick. Deadlock coaching with a PRO works on your hero pool and your fights.
