Deadlock Tier List — Ranked Beta Season 1
Ranked Mode launched on 30 July 2026 as Beta Season 1, running to 7 October 2026. That timing matters for how you read any Deadlock tier list this week, including this one.
The tiers below come from Tracklock's Ranked board on the 28 July patch, read on 31 July, cross-checked against LockBlaze's full July sample of hundreds of thousands of matches. Tracklock tells you what is winning in Ranked now; LockBlaze tells you what won in July across all modes. Where they disagree, that gap is the most useful thing on the page, so it is shown rather than averaged away.
The honest caveat: Ranked is days old, the queue is thin while most players finish their unlock requirements, and Valve said outright that the first week or more will have uneven match quality. Win rates on the top heroes rest on roughly 7,000 to 14,000 recorded results. Treat this as the best available read, not a settled meta — and be sceptical of anyone publishing confident Ranked tiers with no sample size attached.
One more thing worth knowing before you read further: Deadlock is still invite-only. Valve's own store page limits access to friend invites from playtesters and lists the release date as to be announced. Beta Season 1 is a season inside that closed playtest, not an open beta.
All 38 Heroes Ranked
All 38 playable heroes, ordered by Ranked win rate inside each tier. Roles are a functional mapping for readers — Valve does not publish a role system, and the wiki's labels are flavour text. Use the chips to filter.
| Tier | Hero | Role | Ranked win rate | Why it sits there |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S+ | Victor | Carry / flex | 56.11% | The highest Ranked win rate on the board with a healthy 33% pick rate, and LockBlaze's July sample agrees at 54.3%. Durable enough that a bad fight is not an instant death. |
| S+ | Seven | Carry (AoE) | 55.77% | 55.77% win rate on a 43.9% pick rate, and the single strongest hero in LockBlaze's July pool (54.6% over 385k matches). Consensus top pick. |
| S | Kelvin | Support / flex | 54.51% | Peel, an ice wall and a 54.51% Ranked win rate. LockBlaze has him at 53.7% — strong in both samples. |
| S | Ivy | Support / flex | 53.72% | 53.72% Ranked, 54.1% on LockBlaze, and an elite 3.62 KDA. The team-up kit does work without demanding aim. |
| S | Drifter | Carry (assassin) | 52.93% | 52.93% win rate on a 50.5% pick rate — half of all Ranked games have one. A genuinely self-sufficient carry. |
| S | Lash | Flex / initiator | 52.84% | The most-picked hero in Ranked at 58.7%, still winning 52.84%. An initiator who can start a fight alone. |
| A | McGinnis | Support / pusher | 53.85% | 53.85% Ranked and S on LockBlaze. Turret and zone pressure translates directly into tower damage. |
| A | Graves | Carry / zone | 53.69% | 53.69% Ranked, 54.6% on LockBlaze, and a 5.8% ban rate — people would rather not face him. |
| A | Paige | Support | 53.23% | 53.23% Ranked, 53.3% on LockBlaze. Consistent across both samples. |
| A | Vindicta | Carry (sniper) | 51.69% | 51.69% Ranked but only B on LockBlaze at 50.4%. A sniper kit, so the result follows your aim rather than the tier letter. |
| A | Calico | Carry / burst | 51.43% | 51.43% Ranked, 50.8% LockBlaze A. |
| A | Mo & Krill | Tank / initiator | 50.84% | 50.84% Ranked and A on LockBlaze at 51.4%. A burrowing initiator that opens fights. |
| A | Wraith | Carry (duelist) | 50.84% | 50.84% on a high 46.7% pick rate. LockBlaze is cooler at 49.8%, so treat the ceiling as skill-gated. |
| A | Billy | Flex / brawler | 50.81% | 50.81% Ranked A against LockBlaze B at 50.3%. |
| B | Apollo | Carry / melee | 51.68% | 51.68% in the Ranked sample but only C on LockBlaze at 49.0% — the early Ranked pool likes him more than July overall did. |
| B | Dynamo | Support / initiator | 51.20% | Split: B in Ranked, S on LockBlaze. A team-fight ultimate hero, so his value rises with coordination and falls in solo queue. |
| B | Warden | Flex / initiator | ~50.9% | About 50.9% Ranked, A on LockBlaze at 50.6%. |
| B | Abrams | Tank / brawler | 50.56% | 50.56% Ranked, A on LockBlaze at 51.2%. The most forgiving frontline in the game — a real consideration if you are climbing solo. |
| B | Vyper | Carry (gunner) | 50.23% | 50.23% win rate on a very low 14% pick rate; C on LockBlaze. Under-played rather than proven. |
| B | Yamato | Carry / assassin | ~50% | Around 50% in both samples. Squarely mid. |
| B | Celeste | Flex / disruptor | ~49% | Between 48.9% and 49.5% depending on the sample. |
| B | Holliday | Carry / catch | ~49.4% | About 49.4% Ranked, C on LockBlaze, yet a 5.1% ban rate — annoying to play against, not dominant. |
| B | Haze | Carry (assassin) | 48.57% | The biggest split on this page: B in Ranked at 48.57%, but S on LockBlaze at 52.8% across 509k matches. See the section below before you pick her. |
| B | Shiv | Carry / bleed | ~48.2% | About 48.2% in both samples on a high pick rate. The 28 July patch cut his Killing Blow window and stamina. |
| B | Infernus | Carry (burn) | ~48% | Roughly 50% pick rate against a 48% win rate, and C on LockBlaze. Popular, not winning — the classic trap pick. |
| B | Bebop | Flex / hook | 46.5% | A 51% pick rate against a 46.5% win rate is the widest gap in Ranked. The hook feels great and loses games. |
| C | Sinclair | Flex / copycat | 47.9% | 47.9% Ranked, 44.4% on LockBlaze. |
| C | Rem | Support | 47.5% | 47.5% Ranked, 46.7% LockBlaze. |
| C | Lady Geist | Carry (lifesteal) | 46.95% | Split: C in Ranked at 46.95% versus A on LockBlaze at 51.5%. The 28 July patch retuned Life Drain healing and damage, so the older sample may simply be pre-nerf. |
| C | Grey Talon | Carry (bow) | ~46% | Mid-46% on a low pick rate. A precision kit punished harder in solo queue. |
| C | The Doorman | Flex / map control | 46.7% | 46.7% Ranked, B on LockBlaze at 49.5%, and the highest ban rate anywhere at 11.5%. Frustrating to face is not the same as good to climb on. |
| C | Viscous | Flex / disruptor | ~46% | Mid-46%. The 28 July patch reshuffled Splatter, Puddle Punch and Goo Ball, so expect this one to move. |
| C | Carry / burst | ~46% | About 46% in both samples. | |
| C | Mina | Carry / harass | 45.4% | 45.4% Ranked, 44.8% LockBlaze. |
| D | Paradox | Flex / disruptor | 45.78% | 45.78% Ranked, C on LockBlaze at 47.0%. A complex kit that is not paying for itself right now. |
| D | Venator | Carry / gun | 45.12% | 45.12% Ranked, 45.8% LockBlaze, and the 28 July patch nerfed his sprint and damage falloff. |
Read the pick rates alongside the win rates. Bebop is picked in about half of Ranked games and wins 46.5% of them; Infernus is close behind on the same pattern. Both are fun, both are costing people ranks. Meanwhile Vyper wins slightly more than half his games on a 14% pick rate, which is a much weaker claim than it looks — a small, self-selected pool of players.
Where the Two Datasets Disagree
Three heroes land in genuinely different places depending on which dataset you trust, and each gap has a cause.
| Hero | Ranked now | July, all modes | The likely reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haze | B — 48.57% | S — 52.8% over 509k matches | The largest sample in the game says she is excellent; the early Ranked pool says she is not. Ranked brings organised counterplay and three bans instead of two, which is exactly what an assassin fears. If you are grinding Standard wins toward the unlock, she is a fine pick; for Ranked itself, wait for the sample to mature. |
| Dynamo | B — 51.20% | S | His ultimate wins team fights when someone follows up. In solo queue nobody does. |
| Lady Geist | C — 46.95% | A — 51.5% | The 28 July patch retuned Life Drain's healing and damage. LockBlaze's July window mostly predates that, so the two numbers may be describing two different heroes. |
The same logic explains the milder splits on Graves, McGinnis, Paige, Apollo, Warden and Abrams: all are strong in both samples and only the tier bucket moves. None of those are worth changing your pick over.
Best Heroes for Climbing Solo
This section is inference, and labelled as such: there is no dated study of climbing at specific ranks. It combines Ranked win and pick rates with the kits themselves, which is the honest limit of what is available a day into the season.
Picks that reward you for playing alone
- Seven — top win rate and heavy area damage, which scales with the messy, over-committed fights that define lower ranks.
- Victor — the best win rate in Ranked and hard to kill, so your mistakes cost less.
- Drifter — high win rate and a very high pick rate on a carry that does not need a babysitter.
- Lash — the most-picked hero in Ranked, and an initiator who can make something happen without a team calling it.
- Ivy, Kelvin, Paige, McGinnis — top-end win rates on utility kits. If your aim is the weak link, this is the row to read twice.
- Abrams — the forgiving frontline. Near 50% in Ranked and A on the July board.
Popular, and quietly costing you rank
Bebop (51% picked, 46.5% won), Infernus (about 50% picked, 48% won) and Haze in the early Ranked sample. High pick rate is a measure of fun, not of winning.
Better once you have a team
Dynamo and The Doorman need someone to follow up. Viscous, Paradox and Sinclair are complex kits sitting in the bottom half. Grey Talon and Vindicta punish every missed shot. Mirage, Silver and Venator are at the bottom of Ranked after the 28 July nerfs.
The practical shape of a Ranked pool: the unlock rules below force you to commit to at least three heroes, so build the trio deliberately rather than by accident — one self-sufficient carry (Seven or Drifter), one utility pick (Kelvin or Ivy), one frontline (Abrams or Mo & Krill). That covers damage and peel and satisfies the per-hero win requirement at the same time.
How Ranked Works: Unlock, Calibration and Points
Every rule here comes from Valve's Matchmaking Update posted 30 July 2026. This is the part most tier lists skip, and it is the part that decides whether you can queue at all.
Unlocking Ranked is measured in wins, not hours
- 60 wins in Standard Mode. Wins only — losses do not count toward it.
- 15 Standard wins on each hero you want to select in Ranked.
- At least 3 Ranked-eligible heroes.
- No active sanctions — low-priority, communication bans and the like block access.
The consequence is easy to miss: spreading your Standard wins thinly across the roster actively delays your eligibility. Committing to three heroes at 15 wins each overlaps neatly with the 60-win total, so pick the trio first and grind it on purpose.
Calibration
8 games, solo only, with a soft reset of your previous rank history for seeding. Calibration caps out at Oracle VI — Phantom, Ascendant and Eternus have to be earned afterwards, no matter how well you place.
Points, protection and parties
- Roughly ±250 Rank Points per win or loss, varying with the matchmaker and streaks.
- 1,000 points moves you a subrank; 2,000 from VI moves you a full rank.
- Eternus is a daily percentile threshold rather than a fixed point total.
- Loss protection: 5 games at a full-rank boundary, 2 games at a subrank boundary.
- Ranked is solo or duo only. A duo must be within one full rank; at Eternus, both players must be Eternus and within three subranks.
- 3 hero bans in Ranked, up from 2. In the pre-game area you can see ranks, make one hero swap to an unlocked hero you are not already using, and adjust starting lanes; pause is locked for the first two minutes.
Deadlock Rank Order
Twelve ranks, each with six subranks from I to VI, except the uncalibrated one.
| # | Rank | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Obscurus | Uncalibrated — before your 8 games |
| 2 | Initiate | |
| 3 | Seeker | |
| 4 | Acolyte | |
| 5 | Sentinel | |
| 6 | Mystic | |
| 7 | Ritualist | |
| 8 | Emissary | |
| 9 | Oracle | Oracle VI is the calibration ceiling |
| 10 | Phantom | Must be earned after calibration |
| 11 | Ascendant | |
| 12 | Eternus | Daily percentile, not a point total |
If you see Alchemist, Arcanist or Archon quoted as current ranks, that is the old ladder. Some third-party tracker interfaces still show the retired labels in their filters.
What Changed on 28 and 30 July
30 July 2026 — Matchmaking Update. The mode split into Ranked and Standard, Beta Season 1 opened and runs to 7 October, bans went from two to three, and the unlock requirements above came into force. Your peak rank is saved and comes with a commemorative hideout item.
28 July 2026 — Minor Update. The balance pass the tiers above sit on: Shiv's Killing Blow window and stamina cut, Lady Geist's Life Drain healing and damage retuned, Viscous's Splatter, Puddle Punch and Goo Ball reshuffled, Venator's sprint and damage falloff nerfed.
Roster: 38 playable heroes, with more listed in Hero Labs without release dates. The most recent playable additions arrived between January and February 2026 — Rem, Graves, Silver, Venator, Celeste and Apollo. Neither the 28 nor the 30 July patch added a hero.
Because Ranked is this new, expect the board to move. The heroes to watch are the three splits above: if Haze's Ranked win rate climbs toward her July figure as the pool matures, she moves up several rows.
Sources and Methodology
Tracklock — Ranked heroes board, patch tag 28 July 2026 Minor Patch, read 31 July 2026. Tiers weight win rate at roughly 80% and pick rate at 20%. This is the primary Ranked view; sample sizes are small because Ranked opened on 30 July.
LockBlaze — heroes board, 1 to 31 July 2026 window, all modes, hundreds of thousands of matches per popular hero. Used as the stability check, and mostly describes the pre-Ranked Standard era.
Valve — Matchmaking Update on Steam, posted 30 July 2026, for every rank, unlock, calibration, party and ban rule quoted here; Minor Update notes of 28 July for the balance changes; the Steam store page for access status.
Deadlock wiki — hero roster and release history.
Methodology and limits. Roles are a reader-facing synthesis: Valve publishes no role system and the wiki's tags are flavour. Lane assignments are deliberately omitted — no dated source maps the full roster to lanes, Deadlock's lanes are flexible, and inventing them would be fabrication. The solo-climb section is inference from win and pick rates rather than a study of specific ranks, and says so where it appears. Anything describing Deadlock as released or in open beta contradicts Valve's own store page. This page describes the 28 July patch under Beta Season 1 and will be revisited as the Ranked sample grows.
