How Rocket League ranks work: the Competitive rank system
Ranked play in Rocket League is called Competitive. It runs in seasons, and every Competitive playlist keeps its own rank.
- 8 playlists: Duel (1v1), Doubles (2v2) and Standard (3v3), plus the extra modes Rumble, Hoops, Snow Day, Dropshot and Heatseeker.
- A rank per playlist: each playlist has its own rank and its own placements.
- 10 placement matches: every playlist opens the season with 10 placement matches. Your rank in other playlists can lift where you place.
- Wins and losses: wins move you up through divisions and ranks. Losing more than you win moves you down.
- MMR: every match moves your MMR, and your rank follows it.
How to unlock ranked in Rocket League: Level 20
Competitive opens at Level 20. Every player in your party needs Level 20 too. After that, 10 placement matches give you a rank in each playlist.
A PRO can play your Rocket League placement matches at the start of the season, in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or an extra mode.
Rank disparity in Rocket League: the 3-rank party rule
Rank disparity means 2 players in a party are too far apart in rank to queue together. The rule covers parties of 2 in 3v3 Standard. They must be within 3 ranks of each other.
Platinum III and
Diamond III are 3 ranks apart, so they can queue. Platinum II and Diamond III are 4 ranks apart, so Standard stays locked for that party.
Rocket League season rewards: 10 wins a level
Each Season Reward Level takes 10 wins at that tier or higher. The levels unlock in order, from
Bronze up to
Supersonic Legend. Wins in any Competitive playlist count, and losses never take progress away.
A season rewards boost adds the wins with a PRO, from
Bronze up to
Supersonic Legend.

Rocket League Season 24: start date and Top 100 titles
Season 24 started on 23 September 2026. Its end date is not announced yet. Every Competitive playlist opened the season with 10 placement matches.
The top 100 players on the 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 leaderboards earn exclusive Season 24 titles. There are 5 title tiers by leaderboard place, from Top 100 up to the #1 spot.
The newest official distribution covers Season 23, so the tables on this page use it.
How to rank up in Rocket League
- Place your best playlist early. Your rank in other playlists can lift your placements, so a strong rank in 1 playlist helps the next.
- Pick 1 main playlist. Each playlist keeps its own rank, so focused games climb that rank faster.
- Party near your rank. A party of 2 in Standard must be within 3 ranks of each other.
- Count your wins. Every 10 wins at your tier or higher adds a Season Reward Level, even on a losing night.
- Watch your replays. Save the matches you lose and look at the goals you gave up.
