8boss encounters
6Alliance quests

The Deadmines is a linear dungeon under Westfall. Edwin VanCleef and the Defias Brotherhood turned an old gold mine into a hidden shipyard.

It is tuned for levels 17 to 26. A group of level 19 characters gets through the tightly packed pulls with the least trouble.

Here is the route from start to finish:

  1. Take the quests. Pick up the Stormwind and Sentinel Hill quests listed below. Some need the Defias Brotherhood chain done.
  2. Ride to Moonbrook. The cave entrance sits in Moonbrook, south of Sentinel Hill. Groups gather at the mine before they go in.
  3. Clear the mine. Rhahk'Zor guards the 1st cave. Miner Johnson, a rare boss, can spawn close by.
  4. Fight through the goblins. Sneed's Shredder and Gilnid lead the goblin workers. Gilnid runs the Goblin Foundry.
  5. Board the ship. Mr. Smite guards the ship, Captain Greenskin stands on deck and Cookie patrols the boat.
  6. Kill Edwin VanCleef. Loot An Unsent Letter on your 1st kill. It starts the quest chain into The Stockade.

Our Pros can run the Deadmines with you in their group, or 1 Pro can play your character through it.

Where is the Deadmines in WoW Forever?

The entrance is a hidden cave in Moonbrook, a ruined town in the south of Westfall. The cave path leads to the dungeon portal.

The Deadmines lies deep in Alliance territory. Its quests are Alliance quests, with 1 class quest for Horde Paladins.

Alliance characters fly to Sentinel Hill and ride south to Moonbrook. Night Elves start with the boat from Auberdine to Stormwind.

Horde characters take the zeppelin from Durotar to Grom'gol in Stranglethorn Vale. From there they swim north along the coast into Westfall.

The tunnels outside the portal hold elite undead miners. Clear them as a group, since 2 quests need kills there.

Deadmines bosses and how to beat them

1. Rhahk'Zor

The ogre stands with 2 Defias Watchmen. Pull the watchmen on their own, or crowd-control 1 of them. Rhahk'Zor Slam stuns for 3 seconds.

2. Miner Johnson (rare)

Miner Johnson spawns only some of the time. Pierce Armor lowers the tank's armor, so the healer keeps the tank topped up.

3. Sneed's Shredder and Sneed

Clear the Goblin Woodcarvers in the room before the pull. Terrify fears players, and a fear into a pack can wipe the group.

Sneed climbs out once the Shredder falls. He disarms whoever holds threat, so give the tank time to build threat.

4. Gilnid

Gilnid works the Goblin Foundry with goblin workers around him. Molten Metal slows a player by 50%.

A Goblin Engineer stands with him and can summon a Remote-Controlled Golem. Crowd-control the engineer before the pull.

5. Mr. Smite

Mr. Smite guards the ship with 2 Defias Blackguards. Kill the Blackguards before the boss.

Smite Stomp stuns the group 2 times during the fight. After each stun Mr. Smite swaps to a new weapon.

6. Captain Greenskin

Greenskin stands on deck with a Defias Squallshaper, a Defias Pirate and a Defias Companion. Kill the Companion, then the boss.

Face Greenskin away from the group, because his Cleave hits everyone in front of him.

7. Edwin VanCleef

VanCleef starts the fight with 2 Defias Blackguards. At 50% health he calls 2 more.

Kill the 1st pair quickly. A stun on VanCleef as he reaches 50% stops the 2nd pair. Loot An Unsent Letter before you leave.

8. Cookie

Cookie, the murloc cook, patrols the boat. Many groups kill him last, after VanCleef.

Deadmines tips: goblins, pirates and patrols

The trash is dense, so pull 1 pack at a time.

Goblin Engineers in the Goblin Foundry summon a Remote-Controlled Golem. Crowd-control them before the pull.

Defias Squallshapers on the ship cast frost spells at the tank. Stack on the tank so nobody gets caught alone.

An Unsent Letter leads on to The Stockade. Excavation Site is the next new dungeon on the Alliance route, for levels 24 to 29. Our Excavation Site guide covers it, and the WoW Forever dungeons guide lists them all.
