Every number on this page counts Steam players. Guardians on PlayStation and Xbox come on top.

How many people play Destiny 2 on all platforms?

Nobody publishes an exact live total. Steam is the only platform with a public live player counter for Destiny 2.

PlayStation and Xbox keep their numbers private, and Bungie has not published a live all-platform figure. Every cross-platform total you see online is an estimate built from search trends or similar signals.

Read the Steam count as a floor. Console Guardians play the same raids, Pantheon and Trials of Osiris on top of it.

Why the Destiny 2 player count rises and falls

Big updates bring players back. The Edge of Fate on 15 July 2025 pushed the monthly peak to 108,362. Renegades on 2 December 2025 reached 70,905.

Between updates the count drifts down. March 2026 averaged 7,293 players, the lowest monthly average since the game came to Steam in October 2019.

On 21 May 2026 Bungie named Monument of Triumph the final content update. It launched on 9 June with Pantheon, the raid boss rush, and peaked at 167,867. That was the highest monthly peak since June 2024.

By September the average had settled at 17,341. Then Bungie promised the Un-Vault on 21 September. Sunday peaks went from 18,775 on 20 September to 37,341 a week later and 40,811 on 4 October.

Is Destiny 2 dead in 2026?

No. 33,146 people were playing on Steam alone on 8 October 2026, and Sunday peaks doubled in the 2 weeks after the Un-Vault news.

Bungie still ships fixes. Update 9.7.0.5 went live on 7 October 2026. Weekly featured raids and dungeons, Pantheon, Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris all keep their rotations.

New content is what stopped. Monument of Triumph was the last planned update, and the Un-Vault is the next thing Bungie has promised. Dates and details are on Is Destiny 2 ending?

When to find a raid group

Steam traffic peaks in the evening in the Americas. On most weekdays in the last 30 days, the daily peak landed near 01:00 UTC.

Weekends peak earlier, around 20:00 to 21:00 UTC. That is the afternoon in the Americas and the evening in Europe. Saturday and Sunday peaks ran about 13% above weekday peaks.

The quietest hours are 09:00 to 10:00 UTC. A fireteam is slowest to fill then.

Weekly reset lands on Tuesday at 17:00 UTC, with new featured raids and fresh weekly rewards. That is 10:00 Pacific until 1 November and 09:00 Pacific after it. Your 1st raid? The Destiny 2 raid sherpa guide covers what to bring.

Short on time? LFCarry PROs run the raid with you at the hour you pick. The cards below show this week's prices.

How this page counts players

Every figure counts concurrent players on Steam: people inside the game at the same moment. The monthly average is the mean of hourly readings. The peak is the highest single reading.

Counters that read more often catch slightly higher peaks. The all-time record reads 316,651 in this table and 316,750 on a counter with finer readings.

The live figures and the newest month are refreshed in the 1st week of every month. Big Bungie news gets an extra refresh the same week.
