How to Get the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2 (Fire and Ice, Catalysts and Crystals)

The Praxic Blade comes from Fire and Ice, an Exotic mission of the Renegades campaign. You need the Renegades expansion.

1. Play the Renegades campaign. Fire and Ice opens during the story, with Aunor as your guide.
2. Enter the Praxic Vault on Europa. The mission starts at the vault entrance.
3. Clear the orb encounter. Kill Barant and Taken Centurions to spawn energy orbs, then throw them into the hoops to keep them balanced.
4. Beat the vault boss. The fight repeats the orb mechanic in a larger arena.
5. Claim the Praxic Blade. The sword is yours at the end of the mission.

Replay Fire and Ice from its mission node for the 3 mission catalysts. Each one needs the sword equipped, because you throw it at hidden targets.

1. Echoing Blade. The thrown sword hits more targets. Find and destroy 7 small Taken blights hidden in the 1st half of the mission, then finish the run.
2. Hyperblade. Reflecting shots amplifies you and lengthens your next lunge. In the orb encounter, throw 4 orbs into 1 hoop to spawn a Warden. Do it at each hoop, kill the 4 Wardens, destroy the small blights and kill the Ogre that appears.
3. Upper Hand. The thrown sword and reflected shots deal more damage from higher ground. Kill the 2 hidden enemies left and right of the start. After the orb encounter, go back and destroy the 2 Taken blights at those spots. At about 25% boss health, fill the 2 white hoops under the floor before the dark ones. Run these steps and the Hyperblade steps in the same clear, and both catalysts unlock at the end.
4. Energy Conduit. The thrown sword restores health for each target it hits. It comes from The Way Between, the quest of the Equilibrium dungeon. That quest ends with the secret boss Shade of Sere.

Dark Matter Crystals change the color of the blade. Each crystal unlocks for every character on the account.

The full color list reads Red, Orange, Green, Cyan, Blue, Indigo, Magenta, Taken, Yellow, White, Gradient, Purple, Warmind, Vex and Prismatic.

The Praxic Blade is an Exotic Kinetic sword that uses Special ammo.

• Ranged throw. A heavy attack throws the blade, and it seeks out several targets. Hold the heavy attack for a straight throw where you aim.
• Cormorant Reversal. While you guard, incoming projectiles turn into bolts that fly where you aim.
• Cormorant Combo. After 3 quick light attacks, a heavy attack starts a heavy melee combo.

Renegades launched on 2 December 2025. Equilibrium followed on 13 December 2025. Monument of Triumph came with Update 9.7.0 on 9 June 2026.
