Your pet's stats come from your gear. A better bow or gun makes your pet stronger too.
Player buffs that raise stats no longer work on pets. Mark of the Wild on your pet adds nothing, so plan around your own gear.

Juvenile Vuldren and Scrawny Ursera are new in Forever. Both live on
Zephras Isle, the Skyborne start zone.
When your
Hunter learns to tame is covered in the Hunter guide.
The Fox: the new Hunter pet family
Foxes are the new
Hunter pet family of Forever. Their unique ability is
Trickster's Dance: more dodge chance and more attack speed for 12 seconds.
A
Fox learns
Bite and
Dash, like the
Wolf.
Trickster's Dance makes it a strong pet for duels and for holding a mob while you shoot.
The foxes of
Zephras Isle are the Vuldren. Juvenile Vuldren are level 1, so a Skyborne
Hunter finds them close to the start.
Zephras Isle is the level 1 to 12 start zone of the Skyborne. Our Skyborne guide covers the race and its start.
How Hunter pets work in WoW Forever
- Stats from your gear. Pets get stats from the
Hunter's gear. Every gear upgrade is a pet upgrade. - No stat buffs. A pet gets nothing from stat buffs cast on players.
Bite or
Claw. Every family learns Bite or Claw, and some learn both.
Dive or
Dash. Every family learns 1 of the 2. Bats learn Dive, and Wolves and Cats learn Dash.- 1 unique ability. Each family has an ability no other family has, from
Bat
Sonic Blast to
Wolf Furious Howl.
Bird of Prey. The old Owl family now goes by Bird of Prey. Its ability is Mine!, a hit that disarms the target.
Talents for every
Hunter spec are in our WoW Forever talent calculator.
