Diablo 4 the Pit in Season 15: the key numbers
Patch 3.2.1 started Season of Hell's Legacy, Season 15, on 15 September 2026. The game has run on patch 3.2.4 since 28 October 2026. Season 16 still has no start date.
The Pit of the Artificers is the timed endgame dungeon of Diablo 4. You pick a tier, fill the progress bar by killing monsters, then kill the boss before the clock runs out. A clear in time upgrades your glyphs and opens higher tiers. Higher Pit tiers also unlock the Torment difficulties.

How to unlock the Pit in Diablo 4
The unlock depends on your realm.
- Seasonal: open Season Rank 2. The Season Ranks list a capstone dungeon at the end of each rank.
- Clear Hellish Descent. It is the capstone dungeon of Season Rank 2. The clear opens the Pit and the Tower.
- Eternal: reach level 70. On the Eternal realm the Pit opens at character level 70.
- Go to the Artificer's Obelisk. Pick a tier at the obelisk and open the portal.
Clearing Hellish Descent also opens the Tower. Both activities start from the same obelisk.

Where is the Pit in Diablo 4?
The Pit has 2 entrances. Each one is an Artificer's Obelisk inside a town.

Teleport to either town and walk to the obelisk. Interact with it, pick your Pit tier and step through the portal.
How a Pit run works
- Pick a tier. Monsters grow stronger with every tier.
- Fill the progress bar. Kill the monsters on the floors.
- Kill the boss. A full bar spawns the boss. Kill it before the 15 minutes run out.
- Upgrade your glyphs. A timed clear pays glyph upgrade attempts, and a run with no deaths pays 1 more.
The floors and their monsters change on every run. Each clear in time unlocks higher tiers. The more time you have left, the more tiers open.
The tier you clear sets how far each glyph upgrade goes. A tier 10 or more above a glyph upgrades it every time. The Diablo 4 glyphs guide has the full upgrade table.

Pit tiers and Torment: which tier unlocks each difficulty
Torment difficulty opens through the Pit. Each Torment level needs a Pit tier cleared in time.

The Pit in Season 15: Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred
Season 15 gives you 3 Splinters of Evil, and you carry 1 at a time. Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred changes the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons.
Its reputation track adds more progress orbs in the Pit, so the bar fills sooner. Carry it if the Pit is your main farm.
