Diablo 4 Best Builds — Season 14
Season 14, Season of Death Awakening, has been live since 30 June 2026. The current patch is 3.1.2, dated 28 July, and it was a bug-fix pass; the last one to move class balance was 3.1.1 on 14 July. Blizzard has not confirmed the season's end date — trackers estimate mid-September, and this guide treats that as an estimate rather than a fact.
There are now eight classes. Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid, Necromancer and Rogue came with the base game, Spiritborn arrived with Vessel of Hatred, and Paladin and Warlock ship with the second expansion, Lord of Hatred — you need that expansion to play either. The free Warlock trial to level 30 ran 30 June to 7 July and has ended.
Rankings below come from two boards: Maxroll's Season 14 overall endgame list (updated 22 July) and its separate push list, and Mobalytics' Season 14 endgame list (changelog through 14 July). They are not averaged. On this game that would destroy the information — Minion Warlock is B on one board and D on the other, and Zeal Paladin is C on one and A on the other. Where they split, both are shown and the reason is explained.
One Season 14 mechanic changes the maths on every build here: Mythic Uniques 3.0. Any Unique can now drop as, or be converted into, a Mythic — Ancestral, with Unique power up 30% and maximum affixes. Crafting one needs level 70 and Torment, then five Pandemonium Fragments plus an 850+ Unique of the same slot in the Horadric Cube. Only one crafted Mythic can be equipped at a time, though dropped ones stack. That single rule decides most gearing priorities below.
Best Paladin Builds
Paladin arrived with Lord of Hatred and its archetypes are Arbiter, Zealot, Judicator and Juggernaut. Both boards agree on the top pick, and disagree sharply further down.
| Tier | Build | What it does | What it needs | Where the boards put it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Shield Charge | Shield Charge plus Retribution thorns, stacking Resolve to the cap of 30, Clash every six seconds, Fortress for immunity | Mantle of the Grey, Tibault's Will, Herald of Zakarum; the Phoba of Righteous Will set; Aspect of Glynn's Anvil | Maxroll A · Mobalytics A — the consensus Paladin |
| B | Divine Lance (Javadin) | Spam Divine Lance through Zealous Joust; Fortify from the Zealot Oath and Embattled | Light's Rebuke is the build; then Tibault's Will, later Fists of Fate and Ring of Starless Skies | Maxroll B · Mobalytics B — Maxroll calls it easy going enough to complete the whole game on |
| B | Blessed Hammer | The Hammerdin package, rotating hammers for area damage | — | Maxroll B · Mobalytics B |
| B | Clash / Shield of Retribution | Thorns and gap-close variants of the shield package | — | Maxroll B · Mobalytics B |
| C / A | Zeal | Melee Zealot package | — | Split three tiers: Maxroll C, Mobalytics A. Take Mobalytics' word only if you already like the playstyle |
| C / A | Auradin | Holy Light aura, support-adjacent damage | — | Split: Maxroll C, Mobalytics A |
| C-D | Wing Strikes · Brandish · Shield Bash · Zenith · Judgement | Assorted Paladin skills | — | Maxroll C to D. Not where to start |
Start with Divine Lance, finish with Shield Charge. Shield Charge is the stronger build and it is also the one that wants Mythics and a Resolve cap you cannot reach without investment. Divine Lance needs one unique, Light's Rebuke, and works from there.
Best Warlock Builds
Warlock also comes from Lord of Hatred, with the Legion, Vanguard, Mastermind and Ritualist archetypes. This is the class where the two boards disagree most in the whole game.
| Tier | Build | What it does | What it needs | Where the boards put it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B / Push A | Apocalypse | Umbral Chains feed Apocalypse stacks that detonate as Annihilation; Ritualist Shard and Scorching Fragment | Hands of the Worldbreaker first, then the full Rite of the Nameless set, Fleshwrit Carapace, Moloch's Beating Flame | Maxroll B overall but A on the push list · Mobalytics B — the safest Warlock pick |
| B / D | Minion (Legion) | Command a demon army | — | The widest disagreement on this page: Maxroll's highest Warlock at B, Mobalytics' lowest at D |
| B / A | Lunatic (Command Fallen) | Speed-farm package | — | Maxroll B overall, A on push · Mobalytics A — the speed-farming answer |
| C / A | Dread Claws | Melee claws | — | Split: Maxroll C overall but A on push · Mobalytics A |
| C | Hell Fracture · Blazing Scream · Tyrant's Grasp · Profane Sentinel | Ritualist and Hellfire packages | — | Mixed and contested; Profane Sentinel is A on Mobalytics alone |
Take Apocalypse unless you have a reason not to: it is the only Warlock build both boards place in the same band, and Maxroll rates it A for pushing. Minion Warlock is the gamble — Maxroll's best Warlock and Mobalytics' worst, which usually means it performs very differently depending on the content you run.
Best Sorcerer Builds
Sorcerer has the least ambiguous answer of any class this season.
| Tier | Build | What it does | What it needs | Where the boards put it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Firewall (Ring of Fire) | Ring of Fire applies Firewall's damage over time through multi-hits; Berú of the Threefold auto-casts Mastery skills while you spam Charged Bolts inside the ring | Berú of the Threefold unlocks the build. Then Raiment of the Infinite, Drognan's Anguish, Vision of the Firestorm — each from a specific boss | Maxroll A overall and S on push · Mobalytics S — the clearest meta pick in the game |
| B / A | Ball Lightning | Shock multi-hits | — | Maxroll B · Mobalytics A |
| B | Blizzard · Ice Shards · Chain Lightning · Charged Bolts · Frozen Orb | Element packages | — | Maxroll B, C on push |
| D | Hydra · Meteor · Incinerate | — | — | Maxroll D · Mobalytics rates Incinerate D |
Firewall is the pick, and it is a two-stage build. Plain Firewall carries you to 70 and into early Torment on its own. The Ring of Fire version that the S rating describes only exists once you complete the Berú of the Threefold set. Note the push variant swaps sets and, in Maxroll's words, is terrible for anything else — do not build it for general play.
Best Necromancer Builds
Two Necromancer builds sit at A on both boards, which is a rare amount of agreement.
| Tier | Build | What it does | What it needs | Where the boards put it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Blood Wave | Blood Wave used as a Core skill rather than an Ultimate; Kessime's Legacy doubles the wave. Close to one button | Kessime's Legacy pants — gamble them early. Then Ring of Starless Skies, Banished Lord's Talisman | Maxroll A · Mobalytics A |
| A | Bone Spirit | Burst damage through Bone Spirit | — | Maxroll A · Mobalytics A (as Astral Bone Spirit) |
| B | Minion · Golem · Blood Surge · Sever | The classic Necromancer packages | — | Maxroll B |
| C | Army of the Dead · Bone Spear · Blood Lance · Blight | — | — | Maxroll C |
Blood Wave is close to a one-button build with very fast clear, and its gating is unusually front-loaded: it is weak until you find Kessime's Legacy, and comfortable afterwards. Gamble for the pants early rather than waiting for a drop.
Barbarian, Spiritborn, Rogue and Druid
The four classes outside the target set, in brief.
| Tier | Build | What it does | What it needs | Where the boards put it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Whirlwind · Mighty Throw · Minion Barb | Barbarian | — | Maxroll S — Barbarian dominates the top tier this season |
| S | Evade Counterswarm | Spiritborn — requires Vessel of Hatred | — | Maxroll S overall and on push · Mobalytics S as Swarmborn |
| A | Rain of Arrows · Penetrating Shot · Dance of Knives · Death Trap · Heartseeker | Rogue — an unusually deep bench | — | Maxroll A, several at S on Mobalytics |
| A | Cataclysm · Shred · Landslide | Druid | — | Maxroll A · Mobalytics puts Storm Shred, Werenado and Landslide at S |
Worth saying plainly: Barbarian holds three of the four S slots on Maxroll's overall list. If you are picking a class purely on power for Season 14 and you own nothing, that is the answer. Paladin and Warlock are the fresh content, not the strongest content.
What the Top Builds Actually Cost You
This is the section that decides whether a build is realistic for you, and it is the part most tier lists leave out. Every endgame build in Season 14 runs through the same gates.
| Gate | Why it blocks the build |
|---|---|
| Level 70 and Torment | Every endgame guide assumes it, and the Mythic crafting recipe stays hidden until you are there. |
| Paragon | Guides rush the boards under 200 and then respec; late game sits around 250 to 280. The power is multiplicative, so this is not optional. |
| Glyphs, levelled in the Pit | Every Maxroll build has a named glyph priority list, and every one of them requires Pit progression. |
| Mythic conversion | Five Pandemonium Fragments plus an 850+ Unique of the same slot. Fragments come from Ruptures, Deathtoll keys and the Corrupted Reaper. Only one crafted Mythic can be equipped. |
| Boss-specific Uniques | Firewall alone needs Vision of the Firestorm from Grigoire, Drognan's Anguish from Andariel, Raiment from Bartuc and Tal Rasha from the Harbinger of Hatred. Four bosses for one build. |
| Talisman sets | Berú of the Threefold for Firewall, Rite of the Nameless for Apocalypse, Phoba for Shield Charge. Each is the moment the build actually works. |
What each of the four target builds is actually waiting on
- Shield Charge Paladin — Mantle of the Grey, Tibault's Will and Herald of Zakarum, then hitting the Resolve cap of 30, which needs maximum-Resolve tempers masterwork-crit on helm, chest and pants plus Glynn's Anvil and the Phoba set. Crit chance has to come before crit damage tempers pay anything.
- Divine Lance Paladin — Light's Rebuke, immediately. Maxroll notes the cube upgrade for it commonly fails, so this is a farm rather than a craft.
- Apocalypse Warlock — Hands of the Worldbreaker first, then the full Rite of the Nameless. Glyph order is Wrath, Unbound, Empowered, Hellforge, Occultist.
- Firewall Sorcerer — complete Berú of the Threefold before anything else, then the three boss Mythics in order. The masterwork ratio the guides target is 15:7 damage over time to vulnerable.
- Blood Wave Necromancer — Kessime's Legacy pants, then essence regeneration until Ring of Starless Skies lands.
The honest summary: none of these builds is gated by skill. They are gated by Paragon, by Pit rank, by four named bosses and by one set that has to be completed before the build exists. That is a lot of hours between reading a tier list and playing the build in it.
Best Starter Build per Class
With no gear at all, these are the sourced starting points — not the same builds as above.
| Class | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paladin | Divine Lance | A built-in dash and multi-hit; the endgame guide itself calls it the easy-going way in. Shield Charge is not a first build. |
| Warlock | Apocalypse (levelling variant) | The same build you finish on, so nothing is wasted. Hands of the Worldbreaker is the first chase after 70. |
| Sorcerer | Plain Firewall, or Blizzard | Firewall on its own is strong to 70 and into early Torment. Switch to Ring of Fire only once Threefold is complete. |
| Necromancer | Blood Wave, gambling for Kessime's | Gear-dependent early, then comfortable. The pants are the whole unlock. |

Blizzard official — the Season 14 announcement for the season window and the Mythic Uniques 3.0 rules, the Lord of Hatred page for the class roster and expansion gating, and the patch notes hub for 3.1.0, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2.
Methodology and limits. The two boards are never averaged. They disagree by up to three tiers on the same build — Zeal Paladin is C on Maxroll and A on Mobalytics, Minion Warlock is B and D — and a midpoint would describe neither. Where they split, both are printed and the split is the information. Season 14's end date is not officially announced; trackers estimate mid-September and this page does not treat that as confirmed. No hour counts are given for gearing because no source publishes them, and inventing them would be the easiest lie on the page. This describes patch 3.1.2 and Season 14, and will be rewritten when Season 15 begins.
