Diablo 4 Gold: What Gold Buys and What the Shop Sells

Gold is the combat currency. It drops on every map. Vendors, the Blacksmith, the Occultist, the Jeweler, and the Alchemist all take gold. Player listings on the Trade Board charge a gold fee.

Platinum is the real-money shop currency. Battle.net sells Platinum packs and spends Platinum on cosmetics, the paid Battle Pass track, and Reliquary ranks. Gold never appears as a pack on that shop.

The 2 wallets do not convert in either direction inside the live client. A Platinum purchase does not print gold. A gold drop does not print Platinum.

Season of Hell's Legacy, Season 15, is the live Diablo 4 season on 20 September 2026. The season page and the 30-year celebration notes both name that title.

Seasonal characters keep their own gold pile. A Seasonal login and an Eternal login hold separate gold. Platinum sits on the Battle.net account and spends on either login.

A new season resets the Seasonal gold pile. Eternal gold stays on Eternal. Plan spends on the login you will play this season.

The standing sinks are vendor stock, repair bills, crafting ranks, tempering, masterworking, and Trade Board listing fees. Those sinks sit on every Seasonal character that reaches Torment.

Patch notes for the 3.2.1 line raised Gold Cache rewards to about 3 times the previous cache. That change is a drop buff. It is still a gold income line, paid in gold, spent on the sinks above.

A crafted Mythic slot and the masterwork ranks after Torment are the large late sinks. Early gold pays repairs and the opening temper rolls. Hold a reserve before you list on the Trade Board.

The live Battle.net Diablo shop lists Platinum packs at 500 Platinum for $4.99, then larger packs up to 18500 Platinum for $149.99. Those packs buy cosmetics and Battle Pass ranks. They do not buy gold.

The free Reliquary track pays 200 Platinum. The Deluxe Battle Pass asks 2800 Platinum. Those 2 numbers sit on the shop and on the Season of Hell's Legacy notes.

In-game gold trade between players uses the Trade Board and direct trade. Both charge gold, and both stay inside the client.

Buying gold for real money from a stranger sits outside the Battle.net shop. A pile of gold arriving from a stranger's trade is the one thing that gets accounts in trouble.

This page will not reprint a stranger's dollar-per-million listing as if it were a Token rate. There is no official gold bridge on Battle.net today.
