Diablo 4 Runewords: How to Get Runes and Craft Season 15 Runewords

Diablo 4 has 2 kinds of runewords in Season 15. The socket runeword pairs 2 runes on 1 item. The legacy runeword is new this season: you craft it in the Horadric Cube from a white item and a set of runes.

A socket runeword needs 1 Rune of Ritual and 1 Rune of Invocation in the same item.

1. The Rune of Ritual gains Offering each time its condition happens, such as casting Evade.
2. The Rune of Invocation spends that Offering to fire its effect, such as a skill from another class.
3. Offering above the cost gives the Overflow bonus written on the rune.

Runes go into items with 2 sockets: helms, chest armor, pants and 2-handed weapons. You can wear 2 socket runewords at once. A rune and a gem share sockets, so each slot takes either a gem or a rune.

Pick the Ritual rune your build triggers all the time. The table lists what each rune reacts to.

Cir and Moni are 2 more Runes of Ritual.

The Rune of Invocation decides what the runeword does. 4 of them shape whole builds.

• Jah replaces your next Evade with the Sorcerer's Teleport.
• Vex gives a bonus to all Skills for a few seconds.
• Xan makes your next hits a guaranteed Critical Strike and Overpower.
• Ohm invokes the Barbarian's War Cry, raising your damage.

Runes of Invocation from before Season 15 include: Ceh, Eom, Gar, Jah, Kry, Lac, Lum, Met, Mot, Ner, Ohm, Ono, Qax, Qua, Que, Tal, Teb, Tec, Thul, Ton, Tun, Tzic, Vex, Wat, Xal, Xan, Yom, Zec.

Season 15 adds 12 new runes to the 2 groups, such as Ber, Ist and Mal.

The Kurast Undercity is the main rune farm. Each run ends with a reward, and a Tribute you bring in raises it.

1. Unlock the Kurast Undercity in Kurast.
2. Bring a Tribute that adds rune rewards before you enter.
3. Clear the run and take the reward at the end.
4. Turn spare runes into new ones at the Jeweler: 3 runes of a kind make 1 other rune.

Season 15, Season of Hell's Legacy, has been live since 15 September 2026. It brings back 19 runewords from Diablo II. Each one is a named Unique item you craft.

1. Find a white, Common item of the type the recipe needs. It needs no sockets.
2. Collect every rune in the recipe, duplicates included. Infinity takes 2 Ber, and Phoenix takes 2 Vex.
3. Put the item and the runes in the Horadric Cube and transmute.

The runeword scales with its white base. An Ancestral base gives an Ancestral runeword, so keep high-level white items while you farm.

A hotfix on 17 September fixed a bug: transfiguring 3 Ancestral Stealth armors made a Stealth with the power of Enigma.

Count the runes before you transmute. A recipe with a repeated rune needs both copies in the Cube.
