Season 2 Is Live: What Changed on August 18
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ opened with the weekly reset on August 18, 2026 in NA and August 19 on EU realms (Blizzard's Season 2 announcement, read August 21, 2026). Everything seasonal reset at once: Mythic+ rating back to zero, Season 1's portals and Keystone Master locked forever, a fresh eight-dungeon rotation, and a full item-level bump — end-game rewards sit roughly 46 item levels above Season 1, with Mistcrests replacing Dawncrests as the upgrade currency.
The structural pieces carried over: keys still cap their rewards at +10 (vault) and scale difficulty past it, the affix framework is identical to Season 1, and the vault still fills at 1 / 4 / 8 runs. What did NOT carry over is familiarity — five of the eight dungeons have never been run at keystone level by anyone, which makes the first weeks unusually level ground for pugs, pushers and carries alike. The wider seasonal picture — raid, delves, gearing order — is in our Midnight Season 2 guide and the Venomous Abyss raid guide.
The Season 2 Dungeon Pool: Eight Dungeons, Mostly Unfamiliar
Season 2 runs a fixed eight-dungeon rotation: one brand-new instance, four Midnight dungeons entering Mythic+ for the first time, and three retuned returns (Blizzard Season 2 announcement + Ten Ton Hammer pool breakdown, read August 21, 2026).
| Dungeon | Source | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Altar of Fangs | NEW — Patch 12.1 | Three bosses beneath the Coiled Isle; nobody has M+ history here |
| Murder Row | Midnight (keystone debut) | Silvermoon's back alleys; first time at keystone level |
| Den of Nalorakk | Midnight (keystone debut) | Amani troll den; new to the rotation |
| The Blinding Vale | Midnight (keystone debut) | Keystone debut; expect week-one route churn |
| Voidscar Arena | Midnight (keystone debut) | Arena-style pulls; positioning-heavy |
| Ruby Life Pools | Dragonflight (return) | Retuned; old muscle memory helps but is not gospel |
| Kings' Rest | Battle for Azeroth (return) | Long, boss-heavy; a classic Tyrannical test |
| Temple of Sethraliss | Battle for Azeroth (return) | Retuned BfA return; heal-check final boss |
The practical read: five of eight dungeons have zero keystone history — most groups are learning routes, kick assignments and pull sizes from scratch, and even the three returns were retuned rather than copy-pasted. Week-one and week-two timers are soft as a result. If you want portals or rating, the early weeks — before pug expectations calcify — are the cheapest they will be all season.

Keystone Levels, Loot & the Great Vault (Season 2)
Loot scales on two tracks: what drops at the end of a timed run, and what the Great Vault offers at weekly reset. In Season 2 end-of-run gear caps at +10 (311, Hero 3/6) and the vault caps at +10 too — 318, Myth 1/6. Pushing past +10 is for rating, crests and portals, not higher item level. Ladder per Icy Veins and ConquestCapped Season 2 guides, which agree row for row (both read August 21, 2026):
| Key level | End-of-run item level | Great Vault item level | Crests |
|---|---|---|---|
| +2 / +3 | 295 (Champion 2/6) | 305 (Hero 1/6) | Champion Mistcrest |
| +4 | 298 (Champion 3/6) | 308 (Hero 2/6) | Hero Mistcrest |
| +5 | 302 (Champion 4/6) | 308 (Hero 2/6) | Hero Mistcrest |
| +6 | 305 (Hero 1/6) | 311 (Hero 3/6) | Hero Mistcrest |
| +7 | 305 (Hero 1/6) | 315 (Hero 4/6) | Hero Mistcrest |
| +8 | 308 (Hero 2/6) | 315 (Hero 4/6) | Hero Mistcrest |
| +9 | 308 (Hero 2/6) | 315 (Hero 4/6) | Myth Mistcrest |
| +10 and up | 311 (Hero 3/6) — cap | 318 (Myth 1/6) — cap | Myth Mistcrest |
Three rules organize the system. First, +10 is the season's gearing pivot: it starts Myth-track vault rewards and permanently unlocks that dungeon's teleport when timed. Second, the vault's dungeon row fills at 1 / 4 / 8 completed keys per week, and the three offered item levels follow your highest, fourth-highest and eighth-highest runs — so three Myth choices means eight +10s in one week. Third, watch the +9 trap: it upgrades your crests to Myth Mistcrests but the chest and vault still pay Hero-track gear — +9s are the cheapest Myth-crest farm, not a Myth-gear farm.
Raid comparison for context: a Heroic Venomous Abyss clear drops 305–315 and Mythic 318–328, so a weekly eight-key +10 routine keeps pace with Heroic raid loot while feeding better crests — the two stack rather than compete (see the raid guide).

The Affix Ladder: Same Structure, Fresh Weeks
The affix framework is a straight carry-over from Season 1 — Icy Veins calls it a copy, and that is good news: nothing new to learn, only new dungeons to apply it in. The ladder (read August 21, 2026):
| Key level | What turns on |
|---|---|
| +2 | Lindormi's Guidance — marks a basic route, slightly weakens key enemies, and removes the death-timer penalty. Learning aid; removed at +6 |
| +5 | Xal'atath's Bargain — one of four Void variants, rotating weekly |
| +7 | Fortified or Tyrannical, alternating weekly |
| +10 | The other of Fortified/Tyrannical joins — both active from here up |
| +12 | Xal'atath's Guile — the Bargain is removed; every death now costs 15 seconds of timer |
The four Bargain variants, one per week: Ascendant (stop the orb casts — the shields are too big to burn), Voidbound (swap to the Void Emissary, kick Dark Prayer, burn it fast), Pulsar (run your orbiting pulsars into teammates to clear them — groups often stack), and Devour (dispel yourself where possible; healer dispels alone cover only part of the debuffs). The opening week of August 18 ran Voidbound (mythicpl.us weekly tracker, read August 21, 2026) — check the current week's Bargain before pushing, because Guile weeks at +12 and Bargain weeks at +11 play very differently.
Mythic+ Rating: Season 2 Milestones
Rating grows from your best result in each of the eight dungeons, and Season 2's chase list is fully reset (Blizzard Season 2 announcement + Icy Veins, read August 21, 2026):
| Rating | Achievement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1500 | Midnight Keystone Conqueror: Season 2 | Title: the Venomous |
| 2000 | Midnight Keystone Master: Season 2 | Breath of Blight mount (+ the Serpent Scion transmog if you have not taken it from Heroic/Mythic Ula'tek) |
| 3000 | Midnight Keystone Legend: Season 2 | Breath of Ruin mount |
| Top of ladder | Season-end percentile title | Awarded when the season closes |
Two practical notes. Keystone Master at 2000 is reachable by timing keys in the +8 to +10 band across all eight dungeons — Guile territory is never required. And portals are a separate chase: one timed +10 per dungeon unlocks that teleport. Season 2 has a quirk worth knowing — three of the eight portals (Ruby Life Pools, Kings' Rest, Temple of Sethraliss) are the same teleports those dungeons awarded in their original expansions, so if you earned them back then, only the five new ones are missing (Icy Veins, read August 21, 2026).
Open the Mythic+ builder →Portals, weekly +10 vault fills and Keystone Master programs are cheapest while the pool is young and timers are forgiving. From $7.49 per timed +10 — run by vetted PROs, self-play or piloted.
The Meta, Three Days In
Honesty over hot takes: Season 2 opened on August 18, and with five never-before-keyed dungeons the spec meta is not settled yet. Early pushing favors what it always favors — mobile melee with strong kicks for the debut dungeons, tanks with self-sufficiency while healers learn the new damage patterns, and one flex slot for whatever the week's Bargain punishes. Season 1's late meta (Augmentation Evoker, Devourer DH, Unholy DK, Arms Warrior at the top) is the starting prior, not the answer — the retunes and new instances will move it.
We track live Mythic+ parse data in the Midnight tier list, which is refreshed as Season 2 data accumulates. Below the +10 band the rule from Season 1 still holds: a well-played off-meta spec beats a badly played S-tier one every time. The meta matters when you are pushing +12 Guile keys or shopping for a pug slot as a DPS.
What a Mythic+ Carry Actually Gets You (Season 2)
A carry converts the walls above into scheduled, guaranteed results. Live from-prices on our Mythic+ builder, read August 21, 2026:
| Goal | Service | Live from-price |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly 318 Myth vault / portal unlock | Mythic +10, timed | $7.49 |
| Guile-tier rating push | Mythic +12 / +14 / +15, timed | $8.49 / $14.99 / $18.99 |
| 2000 rating + Breath of Blight | Keystone Master program | $69 |
| 2500-band rating program | Keystone Hero program | $99 |
| 3000 rating + Breath of Ruin | Keystone Legend program | $129.99 |
| Score-ceiling push | Keystone Myth package | $169.99 |
| Full white-glove season | Umbral Champion / Umbral Hero | $499.99 / $1,499 |
Every run is played by vetted PROs and works in both formats: self-play, where you queue with the team and keep your hands on your own character, or piloted, streamed start to finish. Loot, crests, rating, portals and mounts all land on your character either way. Early-season timing matters here too — rating programs booked in the first weeks ride the soft timers described above.
