Sleeper Simulant is an Exotic linear fusion rifle. You buy it at the Exotic Archive in the Tower. The kiosk carries the name Monument to Lost Lights.

  1. Go to the Tower. Walk up to the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk.
  2. Open Red War Exotics. This page holds the Exotics from Year 1 of Destiny 2. Sleeper Simulant sits on it.
  3. Pay the price. Hand over 1 Exotic Cipher and 125,000 Glimmer. The rifle is yours.

The archive asks for nothing else. Legendary Shards and Ascendant Shards are gone from the price.

Short on the Cipher or the Glimmer? A Pro gathers both and buys Sleeper Simulant on your account.

A Pro gathers the Exotic Cipher and the Glimmer, then buys the rifle at the Exotic Archive. The catalyst and a Cipher farm have their own cards.

How to get the Exotic Cipher

The Exotic Cipher has fewer sources than Glimmer. These 2 give you a Cipher:

  • Xûr's Xenology quest. Xûr hands it out each week. Finish it for 1 Exotic Cipher.
  • The Rewards Pass. The pass holds an Exotic Cipher on its track.

The Cipher is spent at the Monument to Lost Lights and on focused Exotic engram decoding. Keep 1 for Sleeper Simulant before you spend it on anything else.

Already hold a Cipher? Then the 125,000 Glimmer is the only part left.

Sleeper Simulant catalyst: where it drops and what it does

The Sleeper Simulant catalyst is a random drop from Ops activity completions. Xûr's Strange Gear Offers also list it, priced in Strange Coins.

PerksAccelerated Coils and Deeper Pockets

Accelerated Coils speeds up the charge before each shot. Deeper Pockets raises the rifle's ammo reserves.

Insert the catalyst before you start. The 300 kills count from that moment.

  • Line enemies up. The laser passes through enemies.
  • Use the walls. The laser refracts off hard surfaces.
  • Pick dense rooms. Crowds of weak enemies fill the counter fastest.

Every other catalyst and its unlock sits on our exotic catalyst list.

What Sleeper Simulant does

Sleeper Simulant is a Solar linear fusion rifle that uses heavy ammo. It holds 4 rounds in the magazine. Every shot charges before it fires.

  • Dornröschen. The laser overpenetrates enemies and refracts off hard surfaces.
  • Moving Target. You move faster and acquire targets faster while you aim down sights on the move.

The catalyst adds Accelerated Coils and Deeper Pockets on top. The charge gets shorter and the reserves get deeper.

The other heavy Exotics and where they rank sit on our Exotic weapons tier list.

Is there still a Sleeper Simulant quest?

Sleeper Simulant came out with Warmind in 2018, as a quest reward. On 10 November 2020 the Warmind campaign moved into the Destiny Content Vault. Since then the Exotic Archive has sold the rifle.

On 29 October 2026 Bungie named its 1st unvaulting pass. It will bring back the Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, with their strikes and raids. Bungie has not given a release date. Our Un-Vault guide lists the vaulted campaigns and their vault dates.

Monument of Triumph is the live update. It went live on 9 June 2026 with Update 9.7.0. The archive price above holds in this update.
