WoW Delves Guide (2026): Midnight Season 2 Tiers, Loot, and Solo Gearing

Delves are short, scaling dungeon-lites for 1–5 players, usually clearable in ten to twenty minutes. Like raids and Mythic+, they follow a seasonal paradigm: new delves each season, a rotating set of bountiful delves each day, and a loot ladder that feeds the Great Vault.

Midnight Season 2 adds three new delves on the Coiled Isle: The Ring of Glory, Gnarldor Isle, and the seasonal Nemesis delve Venomfall Deeps, where Azta'rec replaces Season 1's Nullaeus. The Season 2 rollout came in two steps: all tiers plus the first "?" Nemesis difficulty opened in the August 11 prep week, and Bountiful Delves, Restored Coffer Keys and the "??" Nemesis difficulty went live with the season on August 18.

Valeera Sanguinar remains the companion in Season 2. She runs as damage, healer, or tank, tuned with Combat + Utility Curios. Delver's HQ sits in Silvermoon City — vendors sell cosmetics for Undercoin and Voidlight Marl.

All three new delves sit on the Coiled Isle, the Season 2 zone that also hosts the Venomous Abyss raid. What each one is known for:

• The Ring of Glory — the one players hit a wall on first. Its signature encounter is Crushfoot, a giant whose repeating charge can chain-kill unprepared solo players on higher tiers. The room's answer is built into the arena: two towers linked by glowing portal orbs — step into an orb as the charge starts to teleport to the other tower and break his pathing, then continue damage between charges. Players report the charge ignores pillar line-of-sight tricks, so use the portals rather than terrain (community tactics on the Crushfoot encounter page, Wowhead NPC 265686, read August 21, 2026).
• Gnarldor Isle — the second standard Season 2 delve, part of the daily bountiful rotation like any other delve.
• Venomfall Deeps — the Season 2 Nemesis delve. Azta'rec waits at the end in two difficulties: "?" (recommended around item level 290) and the harder "??", where the intermission adds an Echo of Azta'rec that mirrors his abilities and should be crowd-controlled and killed fast (Method's Azta'rec guide, read August 21, 2026).

Azta'rec rewards: any-difficulty kill grants the My Venomous Nemesis feat with the Apophic Patagia cloak transmog; a "??" kill earns Purging The Poison and the "the Poisonous" title; a solo "??" kill earns Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec and the Apophic Soul Crusher mount. Doing that solo "??" kill within the season's first week — before the August 25 reset — additionally grants the Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title, gone forever after.

Delves scale from T1 to T11. The curve is honest: Tiers 1–3 are story-mode, Tiers 4–7 start checking gear and cooldowns, and Tiers 8–11 layer mechanical overlap, higher incoming damage, and tuned health pools. The Season 2 Nemesis is Azta'rec in Venomfall Deeps on the "?" and "??" difficulties.

Practical milestones: Tier 4+ is where bountiful chests matter; Tier 8 is the weekly farm target for most players; Tier 11 (recommended ~309 ilvl) is achievements, Gilded Stashes, and the challenge itself — not a higher item-level band.

Two streams matter: the Bountiful Coffer you open with a Restored Coffer Key, and the Great Vault slot the run fills for next week. Full Midnight Season 2 ladder (Icy Veins delve rewards guide, cross-checked against two independent tables, read August 21, 2026):

Loot scales only up to Tier 8 — Tiers 9–11 are for crests, achievements and Gilded Stashes, not better gear. An occasional Trovehunter's Bounty map drop pays a track higher than the coffer that produced it: at Tier 8+ it grants an immediate 305 Hero 1/6 piece.

Keys gate the real loot. Earn Coffer Key Shards from weekly content and restore them into Restored Coffer Keys; from August 18 each key opens a Season 2 Bountiful Coffer and also advances the Delver's Journey by 250 points.

Delves are a weekly cadence system. The efficient Season 2 loop:

• Check the bountiful rotation — the Delver's Guide at HQ (or the Journeys tab) shows which delves are bountiful today. Only bountiful runs drop keyed coffers and full Delver's Journey progress.
• Spend keys at the highest tier you clear cleanly — for most players that is T8. A wipe-fest at Tier 9 pays the same gear ilvl as a smooth Tier 8.
• Fill Great Vault slots — completing 2 / 4 / 8 delves unlocks vault choices for next week; Tier 8+ runs lock in Hero-track options at 305.
• Push Delver's Journey — the Warband-bound seasonal track; keyed coffers pay 250 progress each, and the weekly quest adds more.
• Kill Azta'rec — Venomfall Deeps Nemesis clears grant the seasonal feats, title and mount chase (see the new-delves section above). The Fabled solo-"??" window closes at the August 25 reset.

A disciplined delve week is roughly two to four hours for near-Heroic-raid gearing — why delves remain the default alt and returning-player path this expansion.

Honest comparison against the other pillars:

• Versus Mythic+ — keys pay better at the very top (Myth-track vault at +10+) but demand a group, a timer, and meta scrutiny. Delves pay Hero-track vault gear with zero social overhead. Where keys overtake delves: our Mythic+ guide.
• Versus raiding — raid nights are scheduled; delves are fifteen-minute bites. The Venomous Abyss still owns tier sets, trinkets, and the top of the ilvl ladder (318–328 Mythic, 344 from the last two bosses) — the two combine well.
• Versus world content — nothing else solo-accessible matches a 305 Hero vault slot.

Valeera tips: tank for survival on Tier 8+ (squishy specs), healer while learning mechanics, damage when you outgear a tier. Complete the Seasonal Refresher: Midnight quest so her full option set is available for Season 2.

Delves are the most solo-friendly content in the game, so buying is mostly about time compression:

• Weekly bundles — clear bountiful keys and fill Hero-track vault slots on a week you cannot play.
• Tier 11 unlocks & achievements — the Season 2 achievement set, Gilded Stash farming, and Azta'rec on "??" for the title and mount.
• Fresh alt on-ramps — campaign gear to Tier 8-ready in one session.
