Novel Decryption or Precision Decryption?
Focused Decoding has 2 tabs that sell Mataiodoxia. They differ in cost and in what they need from you.
| Tab | Cost | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Novel Decryption | 1 Exotic Engram and 1 Exotic Cipher | The Final Shape owned |
| Precision Decryption | 1 Exotic Engram, Glimmer and 1 Ascendant Shard | Mataiodoxia already in Collections |
Use Novel Decryption once for the unlock. Every later copy costs no Cipher, so switch to Precision Decryption for rolls.
Each copy rolls its own stats. Upgrading the armor raises its 3 lowest stats, up to 5 points each at Masterwork.
What Mataiodoxia does: Stylostixis
Stylostixis is the Exotic perk on Mataiodoxia. It works on
Arcane Needle, the Strand Warlock melee.
- Hit with Arcane Needle. A target you damaged with it emits a suspending detonation when it dies.
- Stack needles on 1 target. Landing several Arcane Needles, or Needlestorm, on the same target triggers a larger detonation at once.
- Kill suspended targets. Each kill on a suspended target gives you melee energy back.
- Answer Barrier Champions. Your Arcane Needles are strong against Barrier Champions.
The loop is melee, suspend, kill, melee again. Strand Warlocks and Prismatic Warlocks with Arcane Needle get the most from it.

Farming more Mataiodoxia copies
Your 1st copy may roll stats your build does not use. Plan the farm around Exotic Engrams.
- Keep a stack of Exotic Engrams. Each Precision Decryption copy uses 1.
- Hold Ascendant Shards. Every Precision copy costs 1 shard on top of Glimmer.
- Compare stats before you upgrade. Upgrades lift the 3 lowest stats, so a copy with 1 high stat in the right place is the one to keep.
