What Comp Ranks Are (And What They Are Not)
Bungie Help, article Crucible Competitive Divisions (scraped Aug 29, 2026): Competitive is Destiny 2’s high-stakes PvP matchmaking playstyle. Winning raises Division Rating. Losing lowers it and can drop you a Division. The ladder, in the order Bungie prints:
- Untested (unranked / not yet placed)
- Copper · Bronze · Silver · Gold · Platinum · Adept · Ascendant
Blueberries (Wyatt Lamb, byline Feb 6, 2025, page still live Aug 29, 2026) prints the same seven named Divisions, each with three sub-tiers III → II → I, plus Untested. That matches Bungie’s icons on the Help article.
This is not Glory. GSC still sends brave rank crucible, glory ranks, and similar to our offer page. Glory’s old ladder (Guardian / Brave / Heroic / Fabled / Mythic / Legend) is gone. Our own /d2/comp-ranks body still has one leftover paragraph that lists those Glory names — that paragraph is stale. The live Help article and the blueberries ladder are Copper→Ascendant.
Search Console (site https://lfcarry.com/, 2026-08-01..08-28) already ranks the informational heads on the shop SKU /d2/comp-ranks: destiny 2 competitive ranks 0/520 pos 7.3; destiny 2 comp ranks 1/319; d2 comp ranks 3/209; destiny 2 ranks 0/154; destiny 2 crucible ranks 0/95. Group total 2,444 impressions / 8 clicks / 72 queries, best position 5.8. That SKU is type=slider (offer 309867, opened Aug 29, 2026). Its API price.value.usd is $8 — slider BASE, not a charge. We do not print it as a price. This page is the how-to those queries asked for.
The Ladder — Division Rating Thresholds
Bungie Help does not print the point table. Two pages that do, opened/scraped Aug 29, 2026, agree on every III-threshold:
| Division (III) | Blueberries (points required) | Our live /d2/comp-ranks service-requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Copper III | floor (table: N/A / rank-up 250) | 0 |
| Bronze III | 1,250 | 1,250 |
| Silver III | 2,750 | 2,750 |
| Gold III | 4,250 | 4,250 |
| Platinum III | 5,750 | 5,750 |
| Adept III | 7,250 | 7,250 |
| Ascendant III | 8,750 | 8,750 |
| Ascendant I | 9,750 (rank-up 250) | 9,750 |
Blueberries also prints 500-point steps between most sub-tiers (Copper II 250, Copper I 750, then +500 each). We do not invent a second official table. Our Crucible mega card treats 10,000 DR as the top of the named ladder (Ascendant I); blueberries’ last printed step is 9,750. Printed as a range, not averaged.
After Ascendant I the rating keeps climbing. Our live offer page names that climb Ascendant 0 = 15,000. Bungie Help does not use the phrase “Ascendant 0.” See that section below.
The climb this ladder actually sells
The /d2/comp-ranks slider is live; its $8 API floor is not a price. These two packages charge what the Crucible page charges for Gold III and the full ladder.

Points Per Win and Loss — No Fixed Number
Bungie Help (scraped Aug 29, 2026) does not publish “+X on a win / −Y on a loss.” It lists three modifiers that change the size of the swing:
- Division Inflation / Deflation. Rating far below skill → more from wins, less from losses. Rating far above skill → the reverse.
- Lobby skill. You far below the lobby → more from a win, less from a loss. You far above → the reverse.
- Player performance. Good relative to the lobby → more from a win, less from a loss. Poor → the reverse.
Blueberries (Feb 6, 2025 byline) contradicts the third bullet: “individual performance does not matter, only wins or losses.” We print both. We do not invent a points-per-game number. GSC query destiny 2 competitive ranks points (19 impr / 28d) is answered by that: there is no published constant.
Hardstuck Adept III with a fat loss is usually inflation + lobby skill, not a hidden second ladder. Ask Emily if you want that read on your last few games — free.
Placement Matches — Seven
Three independent pages say the same count:
- Bungie Help (scraped Aug 29, 2026): “a series of seven placement matches before they are placed into a Division.”
- Blueberries (Feb 6, 2025 byline, still live): seven placements, then the ladder.
- Dot Esports, Alexis Walker, Dec 8, 2022 (Season of the Seraph launch explainer): seven placements. Stale on rewards and modes; kept only as a third confirmation of the count.
Bungie Help does not print a maximum placement Division. Dot Esports said Gold III was the placement cap in Seraph — that sentence is from 2022 and is not treated as current. Current placement ceiling = missing-evidence.
Our live slider still sells two add-ons opened Aug 29, 2026: “Complete 7 Placement matches — Silver III guaranteed” and “Silver I guaranteed.” Those are product options, not a Bungie rule about where placements land.
Promotion, Relegation, and Decay (Still in the Help Article)
Promotion — Bungie Help (Aug 29, 2026): at the top of a Division (their examples: Gold I, Silver I, Bronze I) you enter a Promotion Series. Win two of three to move up. Fail and you stay and lose “the equivalent of two losses worth of Division Points.”
Relegation — same article: at the floor of a Division, two losses in a row start a Relegation Series. Win two of three to stay. Fail and you drop (example: Gold III → Silver I).
Disagreement, printed not averaged: blueberries (Feb 6, 2025) says that as of Season 23, promotion/relegation “will only affect those going to and from Adept and Ascendant.” Bungie Help still describes the series at every Division top/floor. Official current wording is the Help article. Blueberries is the older player-facing cut.
Decay exists now — we did not import this from a stale mega pitch. Bungie Help still has a Decay section (scraped tonight):
- Starts at Gold III and higher.
- Each completed Comp match awards one Decay Protection Point. Cap 12.
- Weekly reset subtracts three points. If you have fewer than three, you lose 250 Division Rating instead.
- A Promotion Series open at reset is dropped. A Relegation Series open at reset is failed (you relegate).
Blueberries’ current Comp page does not mention decay. Dot Esports (Dec 2022) described the same Gold+ / 12-point / 3-to-be-safe shape. We treat Bungie Help as the live rule.
Ascendant 0 — The Climb Past the Named Ladder
Bungie Help names Divisions through Ascendant. It does not name a rank called Ascendant 0 and it does not print a 15,000 cap.
What we can attribute:
- Our live
/d2/comp-ranksservice-requirements (opened Aug 29, 2026): Ascendant 0 = 15,000 points, after Ascendant I at 9,750. - The same slider sells Division Rating 0–15,000 (hash on the live page tonight:
#s1=0&s2=2500as the default start/end). - Community usage (YouTube titles still indexed Aug 29, 2026) treats Ascendant 0 as the 10,000→15,000 climb.
So: the named ladder ends at Ascendant I (~9,750–10,000). The phrase players search is the post-ladder rating climb our slider calls Ascendant 0, with 15,000 as the number we print on the product page. Official Bungie name and drop table for that climb = missing-evidence. We do not invent an Umbral Echelon guarantee at 15k.
Weekly Challenge and Focus Slots
Blueberries (Feb 6, 2025 byline; loot table updated with Monument of Triumph weapons, scraped Aug 29, 2026) still prints:
- One weekly Competitive challenge drop per character.
- Weekly engram focusing slots that scale with Division: Untested 0, Copper 1, Bronze 2, Silver 3, Gold 4, Platinum 5, Adept 6, Ascendant 7. Cost they print: 3 Crucible engrams + 25,000 Glimmer per focus.
Bungie Help 9.7.0 (June 9, 2026) moves legacy Crucible nodes into the Crucible Ops hub. It does not reprint the focus table and does not say those slots were removed. Confirmation that the 0–7 table still applies after 9.7.0 = missing-evidence. We leave blueberries’ numbers as theirs, dated, and do not write them as a 2026 Bungie rule.
Artifice-armor-at-Gold and “weekly weapon focuses Copper 1 / Gold 4 / Ascendant 7” also live in our Crucible mega pitch (dated 2026-07-30). That is product copy, not a second independent source. Not used as a fact here.
Current Patch — Monument of Triumph, June 9, 2026
Bungie Help, Destiny 2: Monument of Triumph and Update 9.7.0 Support Guide: Update 9.7.0 launched June 9, 2026. After that date Destiny 2 receives no planned live-service content updates. Monument of Triumph stays in the game indefinitely. Crucible (including Iron Banner and Trials) launches from Crucible Ops. That is the patch this page is written against.
Blueberries’ Comp article still banners “Updated as of Episode 3: Heresy” (byline Feb 6, 2025) while its reward table lists Monument of Triumph weapons, including Solemn Lie with a June 2026 image. We do not rename their page to 9.7.0. light.gg still tags a lot of 2026 loot Season 29. We do not invent a calendar name past those two labels.
