What changed: Season 9 launched July 10 with Jubilee (Strategist), a ground-up Team-Up redesign, and a Black Widow gameplay rework (official Version 20260710 notes), then an emergency Version 20260711 balance hotfix on July 11 (Mantis heal nerf; Ultron+Peni Team-Up drone heal cut; BW/Cyclops/Phoenix buffs; Psylocke nerfs). What the numbers say (Counterwatch all-ranks Jul 15 interact + Rivalsmeta Diamond+ Jul 15 scrape):
- Frontline: Peni Parker is the undisputed tank. Devil Dinosaur cooled from S→A all-ranks and stays B in Diamond+.
- Damage: Magik + Storm lead all-ranks S; Daredevil sits A. Diamond+ A-band still elevates Psylocke / Iron Man / Black Cat (no longer Diamond+ S after the 20260711 Psylocke nerfs).
- Support: Rocket / Ultron / Mantis remain the three-support S-band. White Fox is overplayed relative to her WR.
- Trap: Cyclops shows up in almost every lobby (≈43% pick) with only B-tier win rate all-ranks — and collapses on Diamond+ boards.
Early Season 9 windows move fast after a Team-Up rewrite. Re-check Counterwatch/Rivalsmeta before you hard-main a B-tier flex.
Best Marvel Rivals Heroes for Beginners
Verdict: learn one hero per role from the S/A band that forgives positioning mistakes.
- Vanguard: start Peni Parker (nests teach space control) or Captain America if you want a simpler shield dive.
- Duelist: Magik is the climb pick; Storm is the low-pick S alternative. Avoid Hawkeye / Widow / Torch until you have mechanics hours.
- Strategist: Rocket Raccoon first — high pick, high WR, clear job. Graduate to Mantis / Ultron when you want more agency.
