How to Get Wolfsbane in Destiny 2: Heliostat, Intrinsics and Catalysts

Wolfsbane is the reward for Heliostat, an Exotic mission on Earth. It sends you into the Plaguelands to stop the Conductor and her Warsat.

1. Open the Portal. Launch Heliostat from there for your 1st run.
2. Play the 1st run on Normal. The 1st clear is locked to Normal difficulty with fixed modifiers.
3. Finish the mission. Wolfsbane is a guaranteed reward of that 1st clear.
4. Replay it from Pinnacle Ops. After the 1st clear, Heliostat sits in the Pinnacle Ops tab, and you set the difficulty and modifiers yourself.

Wolfsbane is a craftable Exotic. Its intrinsic, Resurgence Directive, has 3 upgrades: II, III and IV. The upgrades also improve its stats and open more blade and handle options.

The upgrades come from 9 Vex nodes hidden in Heliostat. Only Wolfsbane can break them, so equip it on your 2nd run. All 9 nodes give you Resurgence Directive IV.

1. Nodes 1 to 3: the early traversal.
2. Nodes 4 to 6: the 2nd jumping section, after the hacking puzzle in the blue facility.
3. Nodes 7 to 9: the final boss room.

The catalysts are refits. Each one needs a data pad carried to its terminal during Heliostat on Master difficulty or higher. Finish the mission after the terminal step, and the refit drops from the final chest.

Catalyst	What it does
Attrition Orbs Refit	Sustained damage creates an Orb of Power.
Relentless Strikes Refit	3 light-attack hits in a short time grant Sword ammo.
Burning Ambition Refit	Sustained damage scorches the target. Damage to a scorched target adds more scorch.
Subroutine: ~Recursion	Nanites heal more with each stack of Nano-Assault. Taking damage while Nano-Assault is active can spawn nanites.

Wolfsbane is an Exotic Solar sword that uses Heavy ammo. It is shaped like an axe, and Bungie presents it as its 1st Exotic Axe.

• Resurgence Directive (intrinsic). Light attacks generate Sword energy. They can also spawn seeking Quicksilver nanites that heal you when they attach.
• Nano-Assault (Exotic trait). Nanites that attach to you charge the blade. At full charge, the alternate weapon action overclocks them. Light attacks then deal more damage, and a fully charged heavy attack creates a flaming Quicksilver "swarm-nado".

The refits push the same loop further. Relentless Strikes Refit returns ammo, and Subroutine: ~Recursion makes the nanites heal more.

Heliostat went live on 7 October 2025 with the Ash & Iron update.

Monument of Triumph arrived on 9 June 2026 with Update 9.7.0. Heliostat still launches from Pinnacle Ops, and the catalyst runs still need Master difficulty or higher.
