The Dreadsteed is the Warlock epic mount in WoW Classic. A level 60 Warlock earns it through a chain of 12 quests. The chain ends with a summoning ritual in Dire Maul West. The reward is Summon Dreadsteed, a 100% speed mount, with Journeyman riding included.

Your Warlock on an epic mount in WoW Forever

WoW Forever opens on 4 November. A PRO levels your Warlock to 60 and trains riding with its mount on your character.

Every Dreadsteed material and what it costs

4 quests in the middle of the chain ask for trade goods: Bell of Dethmoora, Wheel of the Black March, Doomsday Candle and Arcanite. Gorzeeki Wildeyes in Burning Steppes takes all of them.

MaterialClassic Era and HardcoreTBC
Elixir of Shadow Power102
Dark Iron Ore2525
Large Brilliant Shard66
Black Dragonscale353

Where each material comes from

  • Elixir of Shadow Power is an Alchemy elixir made with Ghost Mushroom.
  • Dark Iron Ore is mined from Dark Iron Deposits in Blackrock Depths and Molten Core.
  • Large Brilliant Shard comes from disenchanting high level rare items.
  • Black Dragonscale is skinned from black dragons of level 50 and up.
  • Arcanite Bar is an Alchemy transmute of 1 Thorium Bar and 1 Arcane Crystal.

Gold for the vendor items

Gorzeeki Wildeyes sells every item below except the Stardust. Ur'dan sells the Stardust inside Shadow Hold.

ItemPriceWhat it does
Shadowy PotionUnder 10gMakes the demons of Jaedenar friendly for 20 minutes.
Xorothian Stardust150gTurned in for the Xorothian Stardust quest.
J'eevee's Jar150gStarts the ritual in Dire Maul West.
Xorothian Glyphs50gSummons the Xorothian Dreadsteed.
Black Lodestone50gRestarts a failing power node of the ritual. Each use costs 1 Soul Shard.

The Jar, the Glyphs and the Lodestone are reusable. A Warlock who already owns them can run your ritual, and that saves you 250g. They bind on pickup, so that Warlock comes along to Dire Maul.

Dreadsteed quest chain step by step

The chain has 12 quests. Mor'zul Bloodbringer and Gorzeeki Wildeyes stand together in Burning Steppes and hand out most of them.

  1. Mor'zul Bloodbringer. At level 60, take the quest from the Demon Trainer in your capital. Travel to Mor'zul Bloodbringer in Burning Steppes.
  2. Rage of Blood. Collect 30 Raging Beast's Blood from the owlbeasts of Winterspring. Bring it to Mor'zul.
  3. Wildeyes. Talk to Gorzeeki Wildeyes next to Mor'zul.
  4. Lord Banehollow. Buy a Shadowy Potion from Gorzeeki. Drink it before you enter Shadow Hold in Jaedenar, Felwood. Lord Banehollow waits deep inside.
  5. Ulathek the Traitor. Kill Ulathek inside Shadow Hold. Bring The Traitor's Heart to Lord Banehollow.
  6. Xorothian Stardust. Buy the Stardust from Ur'dan in Shadow Hold for 150g. Bring it to Gorzeeki in Burning Steppes.
  7. Bell of Dethmoora. Hand Gorzeeki the Elixirs of Shadow Power.
  8. Wheel of the Black March. Hand over the Dark Iron Ore and the Large Brilliant Shards.
  9. Doomsday Candle. Hand over the Black Dragonscales.
  10. Arcanite. After the Bell, the Wheel and the Candle, Gorzeeki asks for the Arcanite Bars.
  11. Imp Delivery. Take the Imp in a Jar into Scholomance. Release it in the alchemy lab, where J'eevee makes a parchment. Bring the parchment to Gorzeeki.
  12. Dreadsteed of Xoroth. Mor'zul gives the last quest. Buy J'eevee's Jar, the Xorothian Glyphs and the Black Lodestone from Gorzeeki. Then go to Dire Maul West.

Winterspring and Felwood both sit in the north of Kalimdor. Do steps 2 and 4 to 6 in 1 trip. The material quests and Imp Delivery can run at the same time.

The Dreadsteed of Xoroth ritual in Dire Maul West

The last quest is a summoning ritual, and it takes a group. Every Warlock in the group who holds the quest can finish it in the same run.

  1. Open the prison. Enter Dire Maul West with the Crescent Key or a Rogue. Destroy the 5 crystals that shield Immol'thar. Then kill Immol'thar.
  2. Release J'eevee. Use J'eevee's Jar in the center of the Pedestal of Immol'thar. J'eevee sets out the Bell, the Wheel and the Candle around the circle.
  3. Hold the circle. Waves of Xorothian Imps and elite Dread Guards attack the group. Keep the Bell, the Wheel and the Candle burning. The Black Lodestone restarts a failing power node for 1 Soul Shard.
  4. Summon the Dreadsteed. When the waves stop, use the Xorothian Glyphs. The Xorothian Dreadsteed appears in the circle.
  5. Kill both demons. At about half health, Lord Hel'nurath joins the fight. Kill the Dreadsteed and Lord Hel'nurath.
  6. Bind the spirit. Talk to the Dreadsteed Spirit. The quest completes and teaches Summon Dreadsteed.

Stock Soul Shards before you start. Each Lodestone use takes 1.
