Is Prophecy free to play?
Yes — Prophecy is completely free to play. No DLC or expansion required. You only need to complete the initial New Light / Cosmodrome introductory mission. This makes it the most accessible dungeon in Destiny 2, available to every player.
Does Prophecy have an exotic weapon?
No. Prophecy is the ONLY Destiny 2 dungeon without an exotic weapon. Every other dungeon (Shattered Throne’s Wish-Ender through Equilibrium’s Heirloom) has an exotic — Prophecy does not. The focus is on 6 reprised Trials of the Nine legendary weapons and two distinct armor sets.
How does the Light/Dark mote mechanic work?
The core mechanic of every encounter. Kill Taken Knight Echoes to drop motes. Your position when you kill determines the mote type: standing in a bright area = Light Motes, standing in shadow = Dark Motes. Collect 5 of the same type to get a charge, then deposit on the matching plate. Mixing mote types resets your counter and switches your buff. 30-second timer refreshes on each correct pickup.
What weapons drop from Prophecy?
6 reprised Trials of the Nine legendaries: Judgment (Stasis HC), A Sudden Death (Void Shotgun), Adjudicator (Kinetic SMG), Relentless (Strand Pulse), Prosecutor (Arc Auto), Darkest Before (Solar Pulse). No permanent Master mode. Prophecy predates the Master difficulty system (which started with Grasp of Avarice). During the limited-time Rite of the Nine event (June 2025), a temporary Ultimatum difficulty was available with Adept weapons, but this is not permanent.
